Guest guest
This is what  Bhagavadgita says about the Vedas: Chapter 2: 42Those who lack proper understanding take delight in the letter (and not spirit) of the Vedas (scriptures) and proclaim in flowery words that “there is nothing else.†43Full of selfish desires, with heaven as their supreme goal and rebirth as the reward of actions, they (the unwise) engage in many elaborate rituals for the attainment of pleasure and power. 44Those attached to pleasure and power being consciously carried away by this flowery language, never attain the firm intellect of a contemplative mind.  45The Vedas deal with the triguna (three natural qualities: Hyper activity or rajas, lethargy or tamas and harmonious balance or sattva. These are discussed in Chapter XIV); Arjuna! Go beyond triguna. Free yourself from dualities and thoughts of gain or hoarding and always be established in the ultimate truth.  46As much use as there is for a well when water is overflowing on every side, so much is the use of all the Vedas for one who has realized the brahman or the20ultimate truth. Chapter 15: 15I am seated in the hearts of all; I grant memory and knowledge, and I also make them disappear! I am the one  to be known in all the Vedas. I am, verily, the knower of the Vedas  and also the creator of Vedanta (Upanishads). dAsan K.S. tAtAchAr Vasan Sriranga Chari <vasan_chari_hk murali seshadri <muralims2003 Cc: ; ; acharya ; nama-singapore ; oppiliappan ; parakalamatham ; ; desikasampradaya @; bakthi-indonesia Fri, 18 Jul 2008 3:02 am Re: Re: Sriman nAThamuni Thirunakshathram- Let us prostrate at the lotus feet of unpar  SRIMATE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA, Anything which contradicts the vedas should be rejected as vedas are apaurusheya i.e. not composed by any person. But the puranas are composed by rishis who are affected by three mayic gunas.when satva guna predominates, whatever they write is in tune with vedas whereas when the rajas & tamas gunas predominate their writings contradict the vedas & hence not acceptable. Moreover, people are of 3 types according to the predominant guna. The rajasic & tamasic puranas are for rajasic & tamasic people.Hence one need not change or remove any passages from these puranas. In fact, Veda vyasa himself has categorised the puranas into three according to the 3 gunas. hence srivaishnavas have to follow the satvic puranas.
