SrI HayagrIvan likhita kaimkarya ghOshTi humbly presents Swami AlavandAr’s CatusslOki as the 7th eBook in SrI HayagrIvan series. The praamAnam-filled commentary for this has been beautifully written in MaNipravALam by NelvAy Naitruva MaaDabhUshi SrI Sowmianaryanan Swamin, who has based his vyAkhyAnam on the original commentary in Sanskrit by Swami Desikan on Catussloki , a moving stuti on ThAyAr by SrI Yaamuna muni that served as the foundation for many of the later stotrams on MahA Lakshmi such as SrI Stavam, SrI Stuti etc . We are convinced that this eBook will definitely be a significant addition to a devout SrI VaishNava’s library of reference books.

 

Sri Nelvay Swamy's elaborate commentary also includes rferences to PeriyavAcchAn Pillai's , NayanArAcchan Pillai's and Azhagiya MaNapperumAL's commentaries besides relying mainly on Swamy Desikan's adhbhuta VyAkhyAnam . Sri Nelvay Swamy's commentaries are elaborate . There are four slOkams in Swamy AlavanthAr's ChatusslOki . For the first slOkam , Sri Nelvay Swamy devotes 56 pages of commentary ; for the second slOkam 20 pages ; for the third slOkam 13 pages and for the fourth slOkam 29 pages . Every word is analysed with PramANams quoted by Swamy Desikan and other

PoorvAchAryas. There is a seperate chapter for all the PramAnams and NyAyams used in this commentary .

 

All in all it is one of the most exhaustive commentaries written in the sampradhAyic way . We hope to bring you NelvAy Swami's Sri VaishNava dairy for SarvadhAri Year soon .
