Sri:

Dear Devotees of ThiruppAvai :

In this concluding section , adiyEn would cover illustrative excerpts from Paasurams 16-30.

Paasuram 16: " NaayakanAi ninRa--"

NandagOpAlanudaya koil KaappAnE :

NandagOpanin Koil Kaapan ivarhaLukku purshakAram ( sipArisu) seybavan . Hence , he is equivalent to an AchAryan.

The Koil KaapAn has a name but Andal addresses him as "NandagOpanin Koil KaapAn " following Sasstram . ParamaikAnthis according to sAstram should not be called by the name of their grAmams or Kulam but have to be addressed with the Prefix of VishNu's name .

18th Paasuram: UndhumadhakaLiRRin--

EmperumAn has to be woken up thru PirAtti , who is the one to intercede ( PurushakAram) with Her Lord . Hence Andal wakes Her up first ( NappinnAi kadai tiRavAi ) . When SoorppaNakai considered SeethA PirAtti as an obstacle to gain RaamA's attention , she lost her nose and ears . For KaakAsuran , whose apachArams were as great as RaavaNan , he escaped the wrath of the Lord because of PirAtti's saannidhyam.

19th Paasuram : Kutthu ViLakkeriya--

Since one enjoys PerumAl and ThAyAr are to be enjoyed together in Moksha daSai , ANDAL awakens both the Lord and His divine consort at the same time.

22nd Paasuram: anganmAjn~Alattarasar-

"kaNN siricchirithE yengaL mEl vizhiyAvO": During SuprabhAtham , Lord RanganAtha's first kaDAksham will fall on the SaThAri ( Swamy NammAzhwAr) at the foot of His bed.AnadaL asks Krishna for His first kaDaksham on awakening to fall on them

24th Paasuram:anRu ivvulaham aLanthAi-

This Paasuram is considered as the Thiru PallANDu for ThiruppAvai . Like Her revered father , Andal wants to protect the Lord against any dhrushti dhOsham and hails long life for Him free of any KaNN yecchil from dhvEshis.

25th Paasuram:orutthi mahanAi piRanthu

Our Lord was born on Sri Jayanthi day , when the star RohiNi is united with ashtami tithi. Their time of union is considered equal in sanctity to one hundred EkAdasis united together. PramNams say in this context: " Hari dina satha tulyAhi Achyuta SrI Jayanthi" .

27th Paasuram: KoodArai vellum--

EmperumAn wins over those who have ill will towards Him with His arrows. Of those , who adore Him and seek His company , He wins them over with His soundharyam .He is the One , who mixes with the cows , which do not display dhurabhimAnam and have no upakAra smruthi.Such is His soulabhyam.

28th Pasuram: KaRavaihaL Pinn chenRu--

Untannai piRavi perumtanai puNNiyam yAmm seythOm : when we say that we have performed many dharma kAryams , the dharma phalan accumulated would be diminishded. When we insult Brahmins with our speech , our life will be shortened .The phalan of the taps will be diminished , if we wonder about its efficacy. In contrast ,the puNNiyam of Having You , Lord Govindha ,as a member of our Kulam will forever be unaffected .

Paasuram 29: SiRRam siRu KaalE--

Once Bhattar asked a sishyan , whether he attended all the thirty days of ThiruppAvai UpanyAsam . He said that he did not. Battar asked him to attend atleast the upanyAsam on the SiRRam SiRu kaalE Pasuram . This Paasuram is about ananhArya SEshatvam (i-e) we are not servants to anyone but Sriman NaarAyaNan and we should not enjoy any thing other than the Lord. One has to follow the code of conduct of MahAtmAs described by GeethAchAryan: VaasudEva: Sarvamithi sa MahAtmA durlabha:

KrishNan asked AndAL as to why She woke Him up so early in the Morning. She answered : " Oh KrishNa ! if we come after dawn , You would have gone to the grazing ground with the cattle.

If we come in the evening , You will be tired from the efforts of running after the cattle during the day. If we come during midday , Your dear Mother YasOdhai will be chasing You to partake the midday meal. If we came a little later, Your Mother will be preparing for Your Thirumanjanam . After that , she will be ready to decorate Your hair with fragrant flowers. Then , it will be evening meal time .At night , You are never home . The only time that we can catch Your attention is early morning (siRRam siRu Kaalai) . That is why we chose this time. We came here to remind that You have to accept our Kaimkaryams and to state that we are Your adimais. We want to declare that we will not serve anyone else ever and request You to turn away any of our other desires away from kaimkaryam and direct them to You and You alone .

30. Vangak-kadal kadaintha--

This is the Phala Sruthi Paasuram , where Andal showers every one with Bhagavth anubhavam. She points out that one does not need to observe the nOnbu like She and Her friends did but just recite the thrity ThiruppAvai pasurams composed in the classic Sanga Tamizh

( " Sanga Tamizh mAlai muppathum tappAmE"). She asks us to recite every one of the thirty with devotion so that the Lord will rush to them as reciters of the ThiruppAvai and embrace them ardently with all of His four hands .The phalan is the enjoyment of unalloyed bliss due to the attainment of the grace of the lotus eyed Lord thru SaraNAgathy to Him .
