Guest guest
Pranaam/Vanakkam, Dear Swamies, Everyday I come across the following two words from Tamizh lexicon: " MAAL " (Thiru'Maal or Pehru'Maal) and " E'RYE " (E'rye'waa, E'rye'wan or E'raiwee), which I have never bothered much, but today I was curious..what it would be???, could someone please give me the etymology for those two words, eventhou I knew that Maal (is the name for Mahavishnu) and E'rye'wan (god - masculine gender), but just don't understand the actual meaning of the word, e.g " Cudda'wol " means god but the etymological part of it is: Cudda - yonder, par or beyond, wol- substance, material or matter : the supreme matter beyond our thoughts(according to one of my late friend who was a Tamizh scholar, unfortunately he is not available to clear my recent doubts), as such, could someone enlight me the meaning behind " MAAL " & " E'RYE " . anddd also what would be the meaning for " MAART'TREY " (from the last line of 29th Thiru'Paavai Stanza.. Chit'trum Chiru'Kaaley....Maart'treyloh yehm'paavaai), is it similar to Kannada word: Maadutha or Maathaadu (converse/talk) or in Telugu Maattalaadu.?? since I also came across the Telugu word Cheppu in Tirupaavai (tee'yin'nil too'saagum Cheppehlohr yehm'paavaai) Dhanyavath/Nandri V.Trivikrama
