[actually it is two only - I said three by mistake, it was earlier three, and / or in the enthusiasm of praising raama] Here it is -- thvam aprameyah cha dhuraasadhah cha jithEndhriyah cha uththama dharmakah cha |aksheeNa keerthih cha vichakshaNah cha kshithi kshamavaan kshathajOpamaa akshah || 4-24-31 thvam aaththa baaNaasana baaNa paaNih mahaa balah samhanana upapannah | manushya dhEha abhyudhayam vihaaya dhivyEna dhEha abhyudhayEna yukthah || 4-24-32 meaning: thaaraa praises raama and speaks to him – “oh raama you are -- apramEyah - an indeterminable one, dhuraasadha - an inaccessible one, jithEndhriyah - one with his self conquered senses, uththama dhaarmikah - the supreme among righteous souls, aksheeNa keerthih - your glory is unmitigated, vichakshaNa - you are the one with clear discrimination, kshithi kshamaavaan - in endurance earth-like, kshathaja upama akshah - your eyes are blood streaked like those of an emperor. Samhanana upapannah - You with your proportionate physic Aaththaa baaNaasana baana paaNih - a mighty one handling bows and arrows, dhivyEna dhEha abhyudhayEna vihaaya manushya dhEha abhyudhayam - your bodily magnificence is more than that of magnificent humanly body. Points: 1. See in previous slokam 4 – 24 - 30 vaalmeeki says 'as soon as she reached near raama she obtained a serenity' -- 'On arriving at the near of that 'very pure being' Raama, that ireful body language of hers again reoriented itself to a sort of serenity, and then she spoke this praising words to raama'. Why this sudden change in thaaraa – that is conveyed by vaalmeeki by the usage of the word “manasvinee†while denoting thaaraa - On this word 'manasvinee' 'govindaraja' the commentator says -- “manasvinee – mathi priya hanthaaram yaavath Sakthi parushaaNi vadhEyam ithi krutha adhyavasaayaa samaasaadhya viSudhdhha sathva raama sannidhi mahaathmyam yEna nivruththa kaalushyathayaa samunmishitha Sudhdhha sathvaa thaaraa - meaning: Actually she rushed to Raama willing to hurl a mouthful of swears at him in her anger on the killing of vaali -- On nearing the place where raama is – that “raama sannidhi mahaathmyam†-- the nature or the aura of that pure being - viSudhdhha sathva, raama – thaaraa's other two human traits, namely 'anger' and 'stupidity' born out of 'rajo tamo guNou', have quietened in her and she became very polite [and she started to eulogise that very same raama]. Point 2: When she advised Vali to not to confront this Raama, then also she spoke about the attributes of Raama, but it is on hearsay information. Now being in his presence, she turned into a person of pure consciousness. Raama's pure being is already known to all. The nearness of a pure being automatically provides a serene mind to anyone nearby. That is why it is generally said be in saadhu sangamam. So thaaraa praised raama even though her state is pitiable just then losing her husband. Point 3. let us take now one by one thaaraa's naming raama – while thaara advising vaali says - ayOdhya adhipathEh puthrou ikshvaakooNaam kulE jaathou prathhithou raama lakshmaNou Soorou - Those two sons of king of ayOdhya, born in Ikshvaaku dynasty, Raama and Lakshmana are 'valiant'. Dear readers – in sree vishNu sahasra naamam [sVSN] are we not having a naama as 'Soorah' Om Sooraaya nama: -- naamaa no. 341 occurring in slOkam 37- meaning: the valiant. Point4. Next attribute from thaaraa is 'samara dhurjayou' - 'unconquerable in war' again in SVSN we have 'Om dhurjayaaya nama:' -- naamaa no. 781 occurring in slOkam 83 meaning: who can not be subjugated- invincible. Point5. Next attribute from thaaraa is “dhuraasadhou†- two unassailable ones – those raama and lakshmaNa -- [meaning for dhuraasadha from Monier williams - dhuraasadhah – difficult or dangerous to be approached • difficult to be found or met with, unheard of, unparalleled • difficult to be accomplished (vḷ. duraasaha) • m. Name of Åšiva, mystical Name of a sword here -- unheard unparallelled are more apt to describe raama. Point 6. subsequent one is - raNa karmaNi vikhyaathah - Raama, is an acclaimed one for his warfare, vikhyaatha as per monier williams means vi-khyÄta mfn. generally known, notorious, famous, celebrated, known as, called, named, avowed, confessed so in raNa karmaNi vikhyaatha – means famour in war – since as one and only person raama defeated 14000 raakshasaas angadha gathered that information and conveyed to thaaraa – she uses that information to convey to vaali. Here 'Saardhoola' the spy of raavana, while introducing raama's army to raavaNa, after seeing the raama's army in suvEla mountains - naasthi raamasya sadhriSo vikramE bhuvi kaSchana | viraadhO nihathO yEna kabandhaScha anthakOpamah || 6-30-29 meaning: “There is no one on earth who is equal in prowess to Raama, by whom Viraadha was killed as also Kabandha who was equal to Yama.†since length applies brake we will continue in next post. dhasan -- Vasudevan MG Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
