September 2 is AavaNi SravaNam day ; we will offer our salutations to Lord HayagrIvan on His Jayanti day . Lord Hayagrivan's Vaibhavam has been celebrated by Swamy Desikan in His magnificent Sri HayagrIva StOtram (http://www.sundarasimham.org ebook# 4) , which is the first stOtram He composed after leaving his avatAra stalam of ThUppul or ThiruttaNkaa dhivya dEsam , where Sri Maragathavalli SamEta Dheepa PrakAsa PerumAL presides .

 

It gives me great joy to let you all know of the upcoming viSEsha Utsavams at ThiruttaNNkA VilakkoLi PerumAl Koil at Thuppul agrahAram on September 2 . These utsavams are :

 

(1) RatnAngi SamarpaNam for Lord Dheepa PrakAsan

(2) Annakoota Utsavam , where the sumptous feast offered to Govardhana Giridharan by the grateful cowherds of AayarpAdi is remembered by us and a magnificient feast is offered to the Lord of ThiruttaNkaa by His devotees .You can appreciate the magnificent Annakoota Utsavam by viewing the video of another annakoota Utsavam performed at ChembUr Ahobila Matam on November 2, 2008 . In more sampradhAyic parlance , Annakoota Utsavam is conducted as a PrAyachitta samskAram for any lapses in the AarAdhanams during the year . It is therefore performed once a year at the temples . ThiruppAvadai is different from Annakoota Utsavam . Both of

them can also be considered as Krutajn~atA Kaimkaryams .

Swamy Desikan was born in this agrahAram in a house adjascent to ViLakkoLi PerumAL (Dheepa PrakAsan) sannidhi street .The well used by Swamy Desikan for His nityAnushtAnams is still there . Here at ThirutthaNkA arose Swamy Desikan's gem of a Stotra grantam , SaraNAgati dheepikai ( http://www.Sundarasimham.org the 57th ebook ). The prakAsam from the dheepam (Svayam jyOthi ) , Sri ViLakkoLi PerumAL , illuminated the mind of the infant Desikan and transformed Him into a Garbha SrimAn and a great VedAntchAryan to bless us with many Sri Kosams including His magnum opus , Sri Rahasya Traya Saaram .

 

The entire SaraNAgathi Dheepikai with its 59 slOkams was composed by Swamy Desikan here at ThUppul and presented to Sri DheepaPrakAsan and Sri Maragathavalli ThAyAr . In this stOtra grantham with its slOkams set in Vasantatilakam meter , our revered AchAryan instructed us on SaraNAgathy doctrines clearly and completely . SaraNAgathy tattvam is the central doctrine of VisishtAdhvaitam . Matchless indeed is the Tejas of Sri Dheepa PrakAsan ( apramEyam hi tath tEja: ) . This Svayam JyOthi lights our way on His leelaa VibhUti and helps the blessed Prapanna Jeevans to travel under the illustrious light to Nitya VibhUti . Swamy Desikan salutes these mukta Jeevans rushing via archirAdhi mArgam ( the path of Light ) to enjoy nitya Kaimakryam and ParipoorNa BrahmAnandham as " Prapadhana pravaNA: MahAntA: ". Swamy Desikan invites us to have the darsanam of these Mukta jeevans , who have benefitted from the glorious sampradhAyam of AchArya RaamAnuja and MadaippaLLi AacchAn :

 

" prapdhana PravaNA: MahAntA: maanyam Yatheeswara Mahaanasa sampradhAyam iha paSyantu ". Sri DheepaprakAsan is the distilled essence of the glorious

SaraNAgathy Saastram, which came by the way of revered AchArya RaamAnuja and MadaipaLLi AacchAn ( PraNatArthiharar) in our sampradhAyam .

 

This then is the Vaibhaavm of Thuppul/ThiruttaNkaa , where these magnificnet utsavams take place on September 2 and please plan on attending these utsavams and recieve the anugrahams of the dhivya dampathis of this avatAra stalam of Swamy Desikan and those of Lord HayagrIvan .

 

On that blessed September 2 Morning , Kainkarya Sriman Damal NarayaNan Swamy's wish to dedicate a renovated New Mantapam for Utsavams would be realized and Lord Dheepa PrakAsan will accept this precious Kaimkaryam with delight , while He gives us His Mangala darsanam with His new SwarNa Kavacham .

 

During the morning , Swamy Desikan will travel around the four Mada Veethis of Lord Varadaraajan with Sri Dheepa PrakAsan and thereafter there will be Thirumanjanam for

the Lord of ThiruttaNkaa , SwarNa Kavacha samarpaNam , Mahaa Havir-nirvEdhanam , ghOshty PrasAda Vitaranam .
