Dear Bhaagavatas;

The Question was:

“Most of you would be aware of a Divyadesam that is now being called “Mahaa balipuram” also known as "Tiruk kaDal mallai" This Divyadesam has 3 peculiarities. What are these peculiarities? Hint 1. Relates to Perumaal. 2. Relates to Azhwar. . 3.Relates to the location of the Divyadesam itself”

The correct Answer is

We expect short answers to the point.

If you feel like furnishing additional points by way of explanation, you may do so in a separate note.

This may be borne in mind while answering.

The “Quiz of the week” has become so popular that the quiz master is not only setting questions but is also learning from the inputs of readers who respond. Thus, it is a two-way process of learning. Thanks to those who have thrown new lights on the questions. We are reminded of the saying that the Nitya suris in Paramapadam take delight in mutual discussions on the various KalyaaNaguNas of the Lord. (Parasparam bOdhayanti, ramanti, tushyanti cha) and enriching their knowledge mutually. We are thankful to the readers for educating us.

Regarding # 1, some have thrown some new information like -

- Uthsavar having "Thamarai Mottu" in his hand

- Perumal having Thaayaar to his right side (The question is about Perumal, not Thaayaar)

- Perumal lying down in ground without chakra and changu.

- Perumal giving upadesam on Tamil, having his right hand on his chest.

- whole background story of how and why Perumal is lying on the floor

- Thayaaaar being on the right side (The question is about Perumal, not Thaayaar)

- ''vada vendai gnaanapiraan''. Lord having His consort on the right; (unlike consort on the left in thiruvida vendai) (The question is about Perumal, not Thaayaar)

Regarding # 2 additional information are given like –

BUDATH AAZVAAR, an incarnation ok ''kowmudhakee'', the divine mace (gadha) of LORD vishnu one amongst panchayudhams , appeared in a small Kurukkathi Flower on sitthaartha, iyppasi in tirukkadan mallai.

Regarding # 3 again, we are given additional information like –

- The place was governed by Mahabali

- Seashore – Maamallapuram (This is already in the question “KaDal”)

- On the sea shore (kadal mallai) (This is already in the question “KaDal”)

- This Divyadesam is located in the coastal resort town Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram, at a distance of 64 km from Chennai, which is famous for its Pallava architecture.

- The temple site is classified as UNESCO world Heritage site.

- It is on the sea shore. Since the temple is in a tourist attractive place to help the tourists worship the temple is closed for very few hours - say for two to three hours.

- Land gifted by mahabali

- Famous for sculptures.

Better luck next time for these.

But, thanks also for the additional information.

Sometime ago, we had a quiz on 5 “Pativratas”. There is a famous sloka saying that daily remembering the 8 Chiram-jeevis, we can expect to live the full “Veda praayam” of 100 years in perfect health. (JeevEma sarata: Satham) without any ailment.

After enumerating their names, the last line of the SlOkam reads as follows:

"jeevET varsha satham sarva vyaadhi vivarjita://"

Who are these 8 Chiram-jeevis? Just mention their names. No further explanations are expected. Please make sure that you do not miss out anyone or more.=================================================================================
