Guest guest
Dear Swaminadiyen dasasya vignaapanam. Can we read Garuda Purana and Alavandar's stotra rathnam at home or do we only if some not well (nearing their end). It could be very nice and thankful to all if anyone could help me to clear this doubt. Thanks. DasanBala
Guest guest
Sri: Dear Swamin To my knowledge, one of the main reasons for not reading Garuda Purnam is that it typically deals with the journey of the soul, birth/rebirth, sins committed and different kinds of punishments. Typically, our purvacharya have primarily recommended reading of texts such as divya prabandams and texts which promote faith, devotion and sets one on the path of prapatti. It remains a question as to the extent to which the above are satisfied by anusandanam of texts such as Garuda Puranamam. More importantly, in this fast paced environment, we need to carefully choose how we allocate our time in pursuit of knowledge versus other activities which directly promotes faith and devotion in the lord. I am not aware of why stotra rathnam is not recited at homes. Its a very moving appeal to the lord to shower his grace.
