Srirangam – Teppotsavam celebrations: Adiyen’s visit on 18 Feb 2010 evening

ON NAMO NARAYANAYA

Dear Bhaagavathaas,

Lord’s call is always on TOP priority. He grants His APAARA KARUNA in

umpteen numbers of ways.

I had Bhaagyam of Lord Ranganatha DARSHAN on 18 th of this month

February 2010. This day is my 35 th marriage day myself and my wife

visited Srirangam. This time with us we had a grown up kid, who had put

all my faith on Ranganatha at stake. I have a problem to convince my

next generation in simple materialistic terms, who question what is

wrong if we do other way? Without seeking what is right HERE in our

FAITH which is continuously and consistently explained by ACHARYA

paramapara in many ways like – Vedas, epics, , BHASHYAM to scriptures,

stothrams, keerthans, BHAKTHI, Saranagathi, Sesha Gnanam and

similar.

ALL these thousands of years majority followed the FAITH on Lord

Ranganatha, THAAYAR, Andal, ALWARS and Bhagavad Ramanuja due to

tradition, fear or respect to elders, social values but seldom

understand and experience the greatness. Adiyen is humble among this

majority. Of late due to my acquired skills and exposure to the

Bhaagavathaas groups on internet, my own Acharya Chinna jeeyar swami‘s

few words that I can grasp and understand, I begun to explore my own

faith. The very minimal level itself is so amusing, that I feel they

are glimpses of Lord Ranganatha.

Humbly “how I will convince my beloved child, that our tradition and

faith is far superior without affecting anything elseâ€. That is to say

the reasoning “we are great, because other are worse†is not necessary

here.

Adiyen was at Srirangam at about 5 Pm on 18 th. As we entered main

south gopuram, we could immediately see UTSAVAR and devotees taking

TEERTHAM and BLESSINGS for swami there. Not knowing the significance,

but certain there is this special today. I try to observe to take

PERUMAL TEERTHAM first before anything else at Srirangam. So I did not

wait there before Namperumal and quickly rushed to main sanctum. There

was no rush. A token special DARSHAN fee Rs 50/ could put us near

Lord’s Lotus feet in 10 minutes. We had DARSHAN of AMMA also within

minutes. This is where Srirangam is special, we can get SANNIDHI before

we get tired physically and we have time to reflect on what is RIGHT

here, before getting impatient down by what is wrong.

Soon we are outside temple. My better half proposed to go to RAMANUJA

SANNIDHI. I was extremely glad that is was a call from BHAGAVAD

RAMANUJA and he is the one who will show good path to my erring child,

like he showed to DHANURDASA long ago who was erring onto a earthly

attraction. Bhagavan, Adiyen to too small to understand Lord’s grace in

putting us on RIGHT path.

Swami there at RAMANUJA SANNIDHI told us Ramanuja was cremated at that

place and his body was reappeared over surface exactly after one year.

This has taken stone form and there is no ABHISHEKAM with water to the

main idol, but they apply special sandal oil and Camphor to keep

intact. The resurrection part of the story is new to me (devotees may

kindly confirm).

We were back in the main temple to witness the UTSAVAR taking off for

PURAPPADU. The context is Teppotsavam celebrations, actual TIRUNAL will

be performed a week later. The procession in sequence is Vadyakaars,

Elephant and mahout, white horse, a couple of torches, Vinjamarai, Veda

ghosha, scholars chanting divya prabandham, Namperumal on his Pallaki,

Boyees, Bhaktha gal and more. I tried taking photographs of the

occasion for the benefit of devotees, but I was unsuccessful and my

cell phone camera and my hand were shaking and the pictures came

blurred. I was filled with feeling whether Namperumal can COME

PORTRAYED into this small cell phone camera. However I shall succeed

next time.

Lord Ranganatha, Thayar, Andal, Alwars, Bhagavad Ramanuja and ALL DIVYA

SAMPATTHI shall bless us ALL. They correct my child and erring next

generation. Let DIVYA SAMPATTHI give us energies ad strength to

convince our erring children. It has to be a just glimpse of Lord’s

Lotus feet.
