The Saiva Pandits who were hearing Swami Koorathazhwan’s verse, yelled at azhwan saying the following: Shiva who adorns Nagabharana [jewels made of serpant] on his neck, is worshiped by many people in the earth. Hence Shiva is supreme than any other God. Koorathazhwan’s melliflouous reply: Sriman Narayana who holds the Panch ayudha in his four hands, is worshiped by the four faced Brahma, three eyed Shiva, King of Demigod - Indra, Maharishis, Manu Manthatha and many others. He stated this with the following authentic quotes . In Padma purana uthara Khanda, Shiva tells to parvathi “kailasa sikare ramye vishnum aarathye sankaram†I am happy in this Kailasa mountain praying Sri Mahavishnu, to get relieved from this duty of Samhara and attain the eternal abode. When krishna went to kailasa to see Shiva , Shiva seated krishna in his simhasana and prayed him as stated in Bagavath Purana “Adhya mey makuta roodathvam thath padambujam hare†Hey Hari Bagvan, Please embellish me by placing your two lotus feet on my head. Narayan Upanishad points out clearly that Narayanath brahma jaayathe Narayanath rudhro jaayathe Brahma emerged from Sriman Narayana and from Narayana who has Brahma as His Sarira, emerged Rudra. Thus various Sasthras and sruthis clearly states that Brahma transpired from Narayana’s Nabhi and from that Brahma’s eyebrow emerged Rudhra, This being the fact, it is against the Sruthis to claim that Shiva is supreme as he is worshipped by the Majority of people replied Swami Koorathazhwan.
