I have been cursing myself for not having seen such a beautiful temple in the past 30 years of my life despite the proximity of this temple to my residence. I remember Smt Sumithra Varadarajan mentioning about this beautiful temple sometime back(I guess it was the event of samprOkshaNam for which the article had come out). Yesterday, I had managed to fight out my other priorities against this trip and went to swAmy's sannidhi. The sannidhi is just awesome with so many perumALs over there. It seems that, at the declining years of swAmy, he was not able to go to kAnchipuram from his residence and hence all the three perumALs (kovil-ranganAthan, tirumalai-srInivAsan, perumAL kovil-varadan) had come down to swAmy's place in order to give seva. swAmy's tirumeni, both mUlavar and utsavar seems to melt the minds of even the lowest of the low ones(like me). He is so handsome that I thought he is beautiful because he has absorbed all the beauty of kanchi-varadan during tiruvAlavatta kainkaryam. But then I realised that I was completely wrong. It must have been varadan who was in lack of beauty and hence attracted nambigaL for Alavatta kainkaryam thereby making opportunity to gain some beauty for himself from swAmy's tirumEni. Yes! It must have been like that only for sure, I convinced myself:) The temple has close to 120 acres of land in property. The devastanam has sold out a piece of temple's land for 4 crores for the poondamalli bus-stand, but nothing is being given to the temple. Temple is in normal state with few functions happening at different times by the sincere effort of the koil archakAs, parichArakas and few private sponsors. The temple staffs are given a salary of Rs 2500 whereas the EOs just visit the temple once a while for which they book a room in hotel claiming a bill of Rs 3000 or Rs 4000 all from nambigaL's property. A time should come soon when these people would perish and the sri-vaishnavic temples would cherish.('poliga poliga poliga pOyitru valluyircchAbam, kaliyum kedum kaNdu koNmin kadalvaNNAn pUthangaL maNmEl') The lord ranganAthar in this temple is very unique. He has chaturbhujam, but none under his head:) Two of those bear the shankham and chakram, one rests on his left lap while the fourth one on the right is a unique abhaya hastham - a rarity for rangan. The perumAL is over a beautiful Adi-sEshan. But that is not all. The Adi-sEshan himself is over a huge kUrmam. This sannidhi is a must visit for all of those who consider themselves as Srivaishnavas and if you haven't visited this temple so far, here is an opportunity. The brahmotsavam for ranganAtha swamy begins this Saturday and will be a celebrated in grand manner for 10 days from then. I couldn't resist myself from requesting nambigaL to take up my humble offering of chakrapongal thaligai on this Saturday(5th may) - so if you get a chance to come on this Saturday evening (around 5:30PM)to NambigaL's sannidhi, you may enjoy both nambigaL as well his chakrapongal sEsham. Sannidhi is just 'on the main road' in the middle of Poondamalli and one cannot miss it. Ask for Tirukkacchi Nambigal / Varadarajar sannidhi and you may find the place just like that! I have placed the scanned copies of the brahmOtsava patrigai in the photos section in this group under a directory named 'Swamy Tirukkachi Nambigal Sannidhi'. It is unfortunate that the EO has printed the patrigai with a pilliar suzhi - 'u' alphabet in tamil, on the top while the last page contains an iyyapa slogan from a sponsor. But, nevertheless, we must look at only what we want. So plan your trip soon to visit this most beautiful place on earth and be blessed by nambigaL, the one, who conveyed the famous aaru-varthaigal(6 statements) of kanchi-dEvaperumAL to swAmy emperumAnAr without which emperumAnAr could not have established vishitAdvaitam with such a strong foundation. adiyEn, dAsan
