Guest guest
Sri:Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama:Srimath Varavara Munaye Nama:adiyen recently stumbled upon a book called "Deliver Me, My Lord" written by Anand Amaladass. Interestingly this book is an English translation of Swami Manavalamamunikal's Arthi Prabandham. Anand Amaladass is a Christian Preacher and he has shown exemplary interest in our sampradhayam (especially thennacharya sampradhayam) and provided a very simple and true to the original translation. In his own words, "The translation of this work is undertaken not merely with an indological interest to make a Vaishnava saint kown to the English readers. It has a dialogical purpose. Manavalamamuni's contribution through this simple poem draws our attention to a few basic aspects of Vaishnava tradition which are theologically significant... The point is to focus on the unique way a particular tradition articulates its understanding of grace and salvation and bring to the awareness of other seekers of salvation such questions that keep on challenging towards fresh thinking and orientation"Anand Amaladass has provided a nice presentation of thennacharya sampradhayam and maintained the inner meanings of the verses in a simple manner. This book is published by Sri Satguru Publications, Indian Book Center, Delhi in 1990 under the Sri Garib Dass Oriental Series, No.100.adiyen felt that this simple translation will be useful to other Bhagavathas as well. Hence, adiyen took the liberty of retyping the verses and the translation and the attached document has it. Kindly bare with me for any typographical errors and omissions.regardsadiyenRamanuja dasanSampath Kumar Padmanaban Get the free toolbar and rest assured with the added security of spyware protection.
