Desikan is saying that Sri Krishnar brought forth anamazing Karpaga Vruksham. Azhvars have compared the Lord to a Karpaga tree ("sezhung kaRpagaththai", "karpagach sOlai" etc), Desikan has called Andal a Karpaga creeper ("shrI viShnu chitta kula nandana kalpa vallIm") and acharyas have glorified other acharyas as Karpaga trees (Ramanuja Nutrandhadhi states "ennai ALa vandha kaRpagam" about Ramanuja). Desikan is following that tradition inthis shloka. The Karpaga tree (or Kalpa tree) would have countlessbranches and flowers.
