Dear Swamy, Thanks for the lucid clarification. Now based on this, I shall request all our forum members to join hands with me in requesting Thirukovilur.org moderator to stick with the traditional statement only and to get rid of researchers' statement. As the very site is the follower of Vishadha vaak sigamani's Vakhyam " MUNNOR MOZHINDHA MURAI THAPPAMAL KETTU". Dhanyosmin,Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan, RAJAGOPALAN"K.P. Sarathy" <ramasarat wrote: Dear Sri Kannan: Not only the

Azhwars'/Acharyars' periods, but also the origin dates of our puranas and ithihasas have two versions...one corresponding to the tradition and the other corresponding to the researchers. It is upto you to believe either one of these. Traditionalists will not even attempt to reconcile with the researchers because for them the religious writings like GuruParampara is the most important proof.. Historians will, for example date srirangam temple to belong to later Chola period based on the temple tower structures etc. They are not wrong..that tower was renovated (repeat RENOVATED) by the chola king. It does not mean there was no temple before. Sthala puranam is much older than that. Mudal Azhwars (whose period is before even as per these researchers) could not have sung the songs on a temple which did not exist. The same thing applies to Thirupathi temple. How could Sri Ramanuja have converted a Siva/Kali temple to Sri

Venkateswara temple when Azhwars(who lived before Sri Ramanuja, even according to researchers) have sung songs on this temple. So you can believe either one as per your convictions.Dr. K. P. Though going by the position in the Sampradaya and by being the Acharya of Madhurakavi Azhwar, Nammazhwar stands first, he is younger to Madhurakavi Azhwar. Kulaskhara Azhwar, Periyazhwar and Andal follow them in that order among the other options.> In fact, Madhurakavi Azhwar was born in Dhvapara Yuga while the other four in Kali Yuga. The chronology of Azhwars with the their Avathara details, is given below:> Poigai Azhwar> Dhvapara Yuga 862901> Siddhaarthi, Aippasi Sravanam, Tuesday> Bhuthath-Azhwar> Dhvapara Yuga 862901 (next day)> Siddhaarthi, Aippasi Avittam, Wednesday> Peyazhwar> Dhvapara Yuga 862901 (next day)> Siddhaarthi, Aippasi Sathayam, Thursday> Thirumazhisai Azhwar> Dhvapara Yuga 862901> Siddhaarthi, Thai Makham, Sunday> Nammazhwar> Kali Yuga 1
