Kulasekara Azhvar is devoted to Lord Rama and sang the whole Ramayanam in his Prabandham. The birth star of Sri Rama is Punarvasu. So this Azhvar was also born in Punarvasu Star. Rama was a king and this Azhvar also born in a Royal family. inRu: to day. Because of respect and reverence, though the birth of the Azhvar has taken place long ago, we still feel that the birth has taken place to day. pEsuginREn: I am saying the glory of this Azhvar. Despite having born as a king, he was humble and devoted to the bhagavathas. His birth is not merely the birth of the body; it is the birth of the soul. He declared ‘ooneru sel-vath-thu perai yan vendayn’. He wished for him the birth of a thiryak (bird or animal) or sthavara item (inanimate object) at Tirupathi Hill, where the Lord Venkateswara is residing. Because of these qualities of this Azhvar, this day has attained its glory. nallavargaL kondAdum nAL: Sri Vaishnava always wish good for others. ‘Ellai-yil adimai thi-rath-thi-nil enrum mayvu manath-tha-nam’ – The ultimate nature of atma (soul) is to be subservient to the devotees of Lord. To prove the innocence of bhagavathas, this Azhvar has gone to the extent of putting his hand inside a pot where a poisonous snake is kept. Therefore, all Sri Vaishnavas celebrate his birthday. Swamy Embar (Govindap Perumal) was also born in this star, Punarvasu. He also renounced every thing like Kulasekara Azhvar. Recall that for. Kulasekara Azhvar wished for devotion to the lotus feet of Lord Rama. In the same way Embar remained devoted to the lotus feet of Bhagwat Ramanuja and earned a name – Ramanuja pada chayya. When considering the steadfastness to Lord Narayana as against ‘theva-tantara-bhajan’ (praising other devathas) Embar can be compared with Thirumazhisai Azhvar. Thus this day has acquired triple importance. Lord Rama, Kulasekara Azhvar and Acharyan Embar are remembered on this day.
