Vyakhyana Saram: This thaniyan was written by Thirumaalaiyandan who is the acharya who taught the meanings of Thiruvaymozhi to Ramanuja. It says that we should pay homage to Thondaradippodi Azhvar. Thiruvarangaththamudhanar says "seyyum pasum thuLabath thozhil mAlaiyum, senthamizhil peyyum maRaith thamaizh mAlaiyum, pErAdha sIr arangkaththu aiyan kazhaRkaNiyum paran" (Ramanuja Nutrandhadhi 13). Here, he praises Thondaradippodi Azhvar as the one who performed the service of providing garlands made of flowers and the garlands made of words (Thirumaalai and Thiruppalliyezhuchchi) to Sri Ranganatha. The name Thirumaalai itself shows that the prabandham is a garland ofwords. In this thaniyan, through the word sUkti mAlAm, Thiruppalliyezhuchchi is also shown to be a garland of words.
