Guest guest
Dear All : These pictures of Ahobilam taken by Sriman Sethuraman are indeed enthrealling . V.Sadagopan - Sethuraman, Aravind (S.) Dear All, I have pictures of divine spots taken during our trip to Ahobilam. Here are the photos -- http://www.pbase.com/svami/divine_spots 1 This is the cave inside which Prahalada learned veda lessons from Perumal. There is a vigraham of Yoga Nrsimha...He is not counted as one of the nine Nrsimhas. The climb is tough and the path is very narrow. A couple of bats pose a hindrance inside this cave. Only four people can be seated at a time. 2. The Gopuram of Ugra Narasimha facing west. The mountain to the left is the Vedathri (which houses Malola and Varaha to the east, Prah. Padi on its top and Bhargava on the other side of the slope to its north), to the right is the Garudathri (housing Ugra, Kaarnja on the west - to our back side and Pavana to its south on the other side of the slope) The lenghty one at the background is Asalachayameru housing Jwala and Ukku sthambam. There is a 3000 ft high and 3 km wide deep gorge between Vedathri and Asalachayameru - you can see it in Photo # 4. The path to the left of the temple compound takes us to the trekking region. 3 In the entrance of Chathravata Narasimha - you can see Perumal's left hand putting thaaLam for the music of two gandharvaas - Haahaa and Hoohoo. Thats why we say 'he is singing aaha oho' if one is singing very nicely. The mandapam which has open space and only four pillars, echoes when we clap and the echo resembles the sound produced when a veena string is triggered. You can see Prah. Varada gopuram if you climb the small ladder seen to the right....(Taller guys like me can see while standing itself) 4 This is the pillar from which He came out....See the fluttering flag and the deep gorge. The route to Jwala crosses the gorge as a carving (thinly visible below the cliff - in the black region) 5 Water coming from the cave is thick and red in colour, but when taken in hand, is colourless...this is where He washed His hands after the samhAram 6 See the thick grove of Kaaranja trees behind. Lovely forest. This is on our way to Mel Ahobilam 7 To the left is Varaha Narasimhar with His nose pointed upwards ('uththu pArkkaNum') to the right is Lakshmi Narasimhar pradhistai to pacify the Former's ugram. dAsan, S.Aravind
