Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujayanama: Adiyen presenting below an Album on Sri Ranganathaswamy Thirukoil at Srirangam for the benefit of the bagvathas. A write-up on the Sthala Puranam is also attached. It is appropriate to mention a few lines about Sri Ranganathaswamy and the great Acharyas who were so much devoted to him. During the period 1323AC about 700 years back Sri Sudharsanachar wrote a valuable script on palm leaves called Suruthaprakasikai, a commentary on Sri Ramanujar's Sri Bashyam(based on Brahmasuthra) by hearing Upanyasams and viyakiyanams presented by his (Sri Sudharsanachar) Acharyan Sri Nadadur Ammal. He attained Paramapadam during the cruel invasion of the Delhi Navabs forces on Thiruvarangam. Sri Sudharnachar gave the original script to Sri Vedantha Desigan, requesting him to save the script and his two sons from the enemies. Sri Vedantha Desigan carefully preserved the script. Even today, this script written in Sanskrit is available for us due to the meticulous care taken to preserve the sacred script by Sri Vedantha Desigan surviving the invasion of Thiruvarangam Koil by the enemies, who plundered all the jewels, sacred vessels and silk vasthrams of Azhagiya Manavalar. Similarly Sri Pillailokachar also suffered a lot in keeping Namperumal on a voyage from Thiruvarangam to Thirunarayanapuram to avoid the attack of the Delhi Navab forces. He encountered innumerable hardship on his way and ultimately attained Paramapadam in a hide-out. His sishyas continued their journey and finally reached Thirunarayanapuram. Namperumal stayed there for a long time. We must realize the supreme sacrifice our Poorvachars, like Sri Ramanujar, Sri Vedantha Desigar and Sri Pillailokacvhar, made in preserving Srivaishnavam and saving Sri Ranganathaswamy and Azhagiya Manavalar from the enemies. We are indebted to these great scholars for their courage and determination and but for their supreme sacrifice, we would not have got the bhagyam of worshipping Sri Ranganathaswamy as we do now. Youngsters should be taught these aidegams (anecdotes) to infuse a sense of confidence and bakthi while following Sampradayams as envisaged by our Poorvachars.
