Srimathe Ramanujayanama:Adiyen presenting below the second instalment (the first one on the actual text) of explanations on Mumukshuppadi: SRI MUMUKSHUPPADI Thirumandiram Original Tamizh version - Explanation through Questions-Answers - written by “Vyakyana Bhaskara†Maruthidasan Translation in English by Ranga Madabushi ( For private circulation and not for publication) Mulam-I Mumukshu should know three Ragasyams. 1. Q. What is the meaning of Mumukshu? A. Mumukshu means the wish of a person to attain Moksha. The person who dislikes the life of this world, which is destroyable and is full of difficulties; and who likes the life full of joy which cannot be destroyed is called Mumukshu. 2. Q. What is Moksham? A. Where there is no suffering, where there is no end and indestructible happiness is called Moksha. Moksha and Mukthi are one and the same. “Mukthir Moksha Mahananda†is the idiom. Mukthi comes out of two types of experience; one, the joy derived out of experience (feeling) of Anma ; the other, the happiness derived through the experience of Eswar (Bhagavan). Those who have experience in Anma are called Kaivalyarthi. Those who possess a desire for the experience of Easwar are called Baghavath Prapthi Kamon (love and attachment) These two groups are called Mumukshukals. 3. Q. What are the things that the Kaivalyarthi and Bhagavath Prapthi Kamom should learn? A. There is no need for the Kaivalyarthi to know the meaning of all the three Ragasyas; Thirumandiram, Duvayam and Sarama Slokam. Therefore those having a desire to feel the happiness out of the experience of Eswar viz. the Bhagavath Prapthi Kamon (unquestionable love towards Bhavan) only should know the meaning of all the three ragasyams. The Mumukshu , who has the opportunity to get proximity to Bhagavan who is enriched with experience in Bhagavan as a recipient of Bhagavan’s Grace and do all Kainkaryas to Bhagavan and get the bliss of HIS Swaroopa, only is referred to in this text. Anma swaroopam is, the Anma, which is different from the Sareeram (body), do not belong either to self or others but should remain as slave to Eswar or Bhagavan, is Anma Swaroopam; the solution to purity and get all good things for the Anma is Saranagathi; Mumukshu should know all these. 4. Q. Why the three, Thirumandiram, Duvayam and Sarama Slokamare, were called Ragasyangal? A. The meaning of these three is the gist of the Sacred Vedas. In order not to reach the ears of those who do not want to attain Moksha, these three granthams had to be kept away from them, therefore they were called Ragasyams. ..... to be continued Adiyen Ramanuja DasanRanga Madabushi
