Shriman Nigamanta Mahadeshikai: anugrihitam

Sharanagati Deepika

Shloka 12:

tvAm mAtaram cha pitaram sahajam nivAsam santa: sametya sharaNam suhR^idam gatim cha |ni:sImanityaniravadyasukhaprakAsham dIpaprakAsha savibhUtiguNam vishanti ||

Meaning:

dIpa prakAsha - O Deepa Prakasha!santa: - The sadhus sharaNam sametya - surrender tvAm - to You mAtaram - as mother, pitaram cha - father, sahajam - brother, nivAsam - dwelling place, suhR^idam - friend, gatim cha - and the goal. vishanti - They experience (You as One) sukha prakAsham - who has pleasure and knowledge ni:sIma - that are without boundaries, nitya - eternal, niravadya - and faultless; savibhUti guNam - (and as One who) posseses the world and auspicious qualities.

Vyakhyana Saram:

Sriman Narayana is all relations to the jIva. Upanishads say "mAtA pitA bhrAtA nivAsa: sharaNam suhR^id gatir nArAyaNa:". He is mother, father, brother, friend, refuge, everything to the jIva. In Mumukshuppadi, Pillai Lokacharyar says "empirAn endhai engaiyAlE IshvaranE ellA uRavu muRaiyum enRu sollum", when explaining the Narayana padham.Swami Pillai Lokacharyar has also written a work called Nava Vidha Sambandham that details the nine (and thereby all) relationships between the jIvAtma and the paramAtma. As opposed to those who state that the Lord is One who has no qualities and no possessions, Srivaishnavas consider Him as full of auspicious qualities that are eternal, without boundaries and faultless; as well as the owner of this world (leela vibhUti) and the other world (nitya vibhUti). Thus they consider Him as everything to them and experience and enjoy His divine qualities

and His worlds. Note: the word gati: is not be considered as goal alone. By the use of karaNe vyutpatti and karmaNi vyutpatti, it shows that He is both the means and the goal.
