Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Priya Arangan Adiyars, Pray the divine couple of Srirangam, bless you and your family. A SPIRITUAL APPETIZER! When entertainment and spirituality blend to form a programme, the experience is undeniably gratifying! Such a programme was witnessed on 6th September, 2008 at NKT Girls School, Triplicane (Tiruvallikeni), Chennai. SRI RAMAYANA CONTEST conducted by Srimaan Trust throughout Tamil Nadu, has completed two successful years with the unconditional blessings of Namperumal and Sri RengaNachiar. In pursuance of the contest, the final prize distribution function was held at NKT school on 6.SEP.08. The whole gathering was very fortunate to have three Jeeyar swamys amidst them as chief guests viz. Sri Paramahamsa Appan Parakaala Raamanuja Embar Jeeyar, Sri Paramahamsa Thirukkurungudi Perarulaala Raamanuja Jeeyar & Sri Paramahamsa Azhwar Thirunagari Emperumaanar Jeeyar. The atmosphere of the entire event was sanctified by Their gracious presence. The function commenced with a mellifluous rendition of Sri Parasara Bhattar's thaniyan by Chennai participants followed by Thirumangai azhwar's pasuram on Sri Ramapiraan of Thiruallikkeni. This was followed by Sharanagathi in Sri Ramayanam (drama), Naama Ramayanam (dance) & Lava-Kusha (a sort of Harikatha) by Sriranagm students of Srimaan Bhattar Kuzham. Naama Ramayanam was the highlight of this function. Around 10 students danced to the lyrics of 'Shuddha Brahma Paraatpara Raam' and enacted the entire Ramayanam in 10 minutes. Each character in Sri Ramayanam was beautifully portrayed solely by action. The whole gathering wept in joy and the students received a thunderous applause! The Jeeyar swamys were very happy and blessed all the children. They were in dearth of words to extol the enthusiasm and involvement of these children. This was followed by the Founder's address, Sri Parasara BadriNarayana Bhattar swamy. Swamy explained the importance of Sri Ramayana in today's world, its teachings for mankind and the need for children to learn it. Next was the address of Sri P. B. Sampath Kumarachariar Swamy, Founder, Sri P. B. A. Swamy Trust. He was in complete appreciation of the efforts taken by the children despite their hectic school schedules. Following this was the address of eminent people in the field of sampradayam and loukikam. The prize distribution function followed the above address. Close to 200 hundred students received a lot of prizes. A few parents wanted the prize distribution to become better organized and the volunteers promised a better show next time. The function reached its climax with the proposition of vote of Thanks by Sri Venkatesan Murali, a prime volunteer of Srimaan Trust. He earnestly appealed for more voluntary support to organize the activities of the Trust more efficiently. The function had created great hunger among the student class to participate and the spectators to volunteer. Hence, a true Spiritual appetizer!
