Dear bhAgavadOttamAs,

 

adiyEn wish to announce the demise of Srivilliputhur Tamizh vidwan

K. Narasimha Iyengar swamy at Srirangam. He was 97 as he departed us

to attain the lotus feet of Sri Koil Kandadai Annan Swamy for nithya

kainkaryam on Tuesday night 16th of Sep 2008 (Krishnapaksha

Dvitiyai, Dhakshinayanam).

 

Sri Narasimha Iyengar swAmy was the son of the popular purANam

krishna iyengar swAmy of Srivilliputhur(Chakra kula theru). He was

both a sanskrit and tamil gold medalist in his academics and worked

as a Tamizh pandit, although, his knowledge in sanskrit was equally

commendable. Belonging to Thennacharya sampradayam, swAmy had also

been very popular amongst Vadakalai scholars. His mere presence in

all the vidwad sadas was mandated by the then Srimad Azhagiya Singar

jeeyar swAmy of ahObila madam as well as the present jeeyar swAmy.

Being a voracious reader of all pUrvAchArya granthAs, swAmy was well

versed in almost all popular pUrvAchArya granthams including Sri

bhAsyam, Divyaprabhanda vyAkyAnam, Sri vachana bhUshanam, AchArya

hrudhayam to name a few.

 

He had very clean habits in terms of his diet, anushtanam and day to

day activities. adiyEn saw him performing Sandyavandam 3

times " every day " until few weeks(he became unconscious) before he

departed.

 

Though we regret his demise, we are happy that a) He attained the

lotus feet of Sri Koil Kandadai Annan swAmy b) he had been relieved

from all the pains he suffered during his last few months. I have

seen him mentioning that 'dEhAvasAnE mukti:' and that is probably

why the Lord has kept him so long to clear up all his karmAs.

 

adiyEn is the son of Sri N. Venkatapathy Iyengar, the second son of

Sri K. Narasimha Iyengar swamy. adiyEn is proud to be his grand son

in many ways one of which is that without being born in this family

adiyEn would not have got the sambandham of Sri Koil Kandadai Annan

Swamy's lotus feet.

 

All the final 10 day rituals are being performed at Srirangam at his

6th Son Sri AzhwAr Iyengar's home at Dasavadara Sannidhi St,

Srirangam. 10th day ritual falls on Thursday and subha sweekAram

falls on next Sunday.
