Even a bus nowadays takes several hours to go from Srirangam to

Jyothishkudi.

When thulushkas occupied Srirangam in the year 1323, Sri Pillai

Lokachariar, 118 years old then, saved namperumal

by getting namperumal out of Srirangam. He along with many

disciples went through the rough terrains, forests, and so on,

carrying namperumal. When they reached Jyothiskudi,

Sri Pillai Lokachariar realized that he cannot carry on any more, so

he decided to stay in Jyothishkudi itself.

He directed his sishyas to reach out to Thiruvoimozhi Pillai,

explain him various rahasyams of srivaishnavam and become his

sishyas.

From Jyothishkudi, Swami Pillai Lokachariar reached sri vaikuntam.

Without Swami Pillai Lokachariar's sacrifice of his life, we probably

would not be having darshan of namperumal today in Srirangam.

This great acharyar's thirunakshathiram is Aippasi 21, Thiruvonam,

which this year falls on Thursday November 6, 2008.

So is there any suggestion on what we could do on this great day of

Sri Pillai Lokachariar's thirunakshatram to remember and respect this

acharya selvam?

One idea is that we could spend about 1/2 to 1 hour to learn a bit

more about this acharyan.

I found a just so wonderful document in this link:

Many thanks to the adiyavar who published this document.

Any other suggestions kindly post them here.
