Guest guest Posted November 10, 2008 Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha: Dear Bagavathas, Sri Jagannatha Perumal and Thirumazhisai Azhwar temple, Thirumazhisai which is located 4 kms from Poovirunthavalli (Poonamallee), is the avatharasthalam of Thirumazhisai Azhwar. The main deity in this temple is Sri Jagannatha Perumal and Thirumazhisai Azhwar. The other deities are Sri Thirumangaivalli Thayyar, Sri Azhagiyasinger, Sri Andal and Sri Manavala Mamunigal. The Thaiyil Maagam avathara utsavam of Thirumazhisaipiran and Aani Brammotsavam for Sri Jagannatha Perumal are the main utsavams celebrated in a grand manner. On the 5th day evening of avathara utsavam, Garuda vahanam purapadu for Perumal and Hamsa vahanmam purapadu for Azhwar takes place. On the 6th day pai naagam pai suruti utsavam, 9th Day Periya Thiru Ther, followed by Sattrumurai on 10th day. This year avathara utsavam is starting on 1st Feb and sattrumurai is on 10th Feb. The Garuda Vahanam and Hamsa Vahanam are morethan 100 years old. Although minor repairs and repainting were carried out all these years, these vahanams require major repairs and repainting. Thirumazhisaiars' Association has completed various kainkariyams in the past and now taken the responsibility of renovating the vahanams. Now our association has started the above vahanam renovation work. In future, there are plans to renovate other vahanams also.
