Guest guest
KOIL, Tirumalai and PerumAL kOil We all know that Rangan substituted a devotee named Rangan ( who had been caught in heavy rainfall in Srirangam) and stayed in their house with the grandmother . PEAraruLALan and Tirumalai Appan had also feigned their identity and descended in front of Sri RamAnuja and Sri AnanthAzvAn respecitvely, incognito. Let us see the incidents. THE HUNTER AND THE HUNTED Learning of the plot of yAdhava prakASa to kill him in the name of pilgrimage, through gOvinda, swAmi iLaiyAzhwAr(rAmAnuja) gave a miss to the group of yAdhavaprakASa and started moving south. While he reached the forests of vindhya, it started getting dark and a sense of helplessness set in. However, a hunter and his wife, claiming to be travelling to satyavratha kshEthram(kAnchipuram) from sidhdhAsramam, appeared before iLaiyAzhwAr. Finding company, iLaiyAzhwAr followed them with their consent. As the dusk set in, they settled down for the night. The hunter's wife then expressed her need for water, for which the hunter promised to show her a well in the morning. At this, iLaiyAzhwAr regretted that he could be of little help to those who had greatly helped him. When he woke up the next morning, he finished his regular duties, only to return to find the hunter couple missing. Moving a little ahead, he found a few people around a well. He asked them,"What is this place?" They replied immediately,"Oh! And this question being asked standing in front of puNyakOtivimAna!" Wondering at his sleeping near Vindhya and waking up in PerumAL koil, iLaiyAzhwAr recognized the couple as perumAL and pirAtti, leading to sweet memories of His soulabhyam. TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED Under the directions of swAmi rAmAnuja, swAmi anantAzhwAn created a beautiful nandavanam, a garden laden with flowers most pleasing for the Lord TiruvEnkaDamuDaiyAn called SrIrAmAnuja nandavanam. Finding such a garden, wonderful in both, that it was very beautiful and that it was created by a person as great as swAmi anantAzhwAn, the Lord and His consort alarmElmangai, used to spend the nights of the pleasant spring, playing and dancing about in the garden, enjoying the flowers and fruits of swAmi anantAzhwAn's garden. Every morning, a disturbed garden used to meet the eyes of swAmi anantAzhwAn. To catch the "trespassers", he appointed watch-guards for the night. However, to his surprise no trespasser was caught though the garden was rendered disturbed, with flowers and fruits lying all over. Assuming that the watch—guards were not committed to their task, swAmi appointed some of his intimate disciples to aid the guards. Again, this yielded little result, as the ceremony continued unabated with no violator caught. Finally swAmi decided to take the task himself. He spent 8 days and nights in the nandavanam, sleepless, as the divya dampatIs continued to elude his eye. Impressed by the commitment and devotion of swAmi, the divya dampatIs decided to reveal themselves to him, also to make the world know of his greatness. So, on the ninth night, the Lord and His consort took the form of a royal couple and made themselves visible to swAmi. With anger, haste and at the same time joy at having discovered his trespassers, swAmi rushed ahead and caught hold of the royal couple. However, TiruvEnkaDamuDaiyAn escaped from the hands of the swAmi. On the other hand, alarmElmangai remained caught at the hands of swAmi anantAzhwAn, as she stood bound by his devotion. SwAmi asked alarmElmangai to reveal the identity of her husband but she declined. She also called swAmi as her father and asked him to release her as a daughter. SwAmi however, expecting the runaway prince to return for his consort, tied her to a tree. The temple authorities and priests were in for a shock the next day when they found alarmElmangai missing from the Lord's tirumArbu(divine chest). The Lord Himself revealed that His consort was bound to a tree in SrIrAmAnuja nandavanam. Knowing of this, swAmi, full of shock and ecstasy, with great regard to pirAtti's wish, engaged her in a divine marriage with the Lord, very fittingly doing the duty of a 'father' – the word used by alarmElmagai herself to refer him. dAsan, ranganathan ramaswamy Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy!
