Guest guest
An analysis of TiruppAvai jEyar episode. As per TiruppAvai vyAkyanam for the 18th pAsuram fo TiruppAvai we observed in the mystery of mistaken identity -3 that Sri RamAnuja had fell at the feet of athuzhAi daughter of Sri Periya Nambi and shei was flabbergasted. However, Periya Nambi comprehending the mindset of his disciple, immediately conjectured that 'vundhu madhakaLiTran' pAsuram was being chanted. It is significant to note that the arumpadhavurai to TiruppAvai mentions this. However, We find from vArthAmAlai that the same incident being quoted but it is 'dhEvaki pirATTi' daughter of TirukkOshTiyur nambi who is at the receiving end instead of athuzhAii. Whatever may be this, the whole incident points out to the fact that EmperumAnAr had submerged himself in mind, soul and deeds to the pAsuram and when she opened the door, true to his spirit into the pAsuram , he thought that it was napipinnai pirATTi of ThiruvAippADi. The immense passion doused in devotion and extreme reverence and faith in the pAsuram had in fact pushed him to this stage. Even so, is it right to falter the identity? For that we have to turn to Sri PiLLai LokaChAryAr who had analsyed such falterings. (to be continued) dasan vanamamalai padmanabhan
