Divyadesa Visit

– Thirunangur and others around Kumbakonam/Tanjavoor/Sirgazhi

On a two days

trip by car:

Adiyen had the bagyam of visiting the

Thirunangur Divyadesams(11) and a few other Divyadesams around

Tanjavoor-Kumbakonam-Sirgazhi-Mayavaram route.

A description of the Divyadesams visited and the photographs taken are

presented to baghavadas for information

and to share the anubhavam.

These 25 places were visited in Two days

by car. The

day one started at 5-30 a.m. from Srirangam. We had rest for a couple of hours at

Kumbakonam for lunch. End of day one,

we had night halt at a Kalyanamandapam

surrounded by fields and garden, abound

with trees and shrubs of all varieties , at Annanperumal Koil, Sirgazhi. Day two we managed with the food

and tiffin served by the Kalyanamandapam owner at Annanperumalkoil and so the

trip was continuous. They have provided a guide also for the Thirunangur

portion of the trip. We returned to Srirangam

at about 9-30 p.m. day two.

worshiping, two are in the Sannadhi. Sri Thirumangai Azhwar appears in the form

of a Veduvan with bow and arrow. The aithegam is that in the nearby place called

belongings. Then Perumal gave

Thirumandira Upadesam to the Azhwar by appearing as young couple and took him

to His fold. Vayalai Manavavala Perumal

as rendered in Divyaprabandam, stays in Thirunagari instead of Thiruvali. Hence

these two(20) & (21) are considered as one Divyadesam. (22) Thiruvellakulam (Annan Koil)

(Thirunangur) (Then Thirupathi): Kumudavalli Nachiyar, was found as a baby on a

saint Sri Thirugnana Sambandar and got his ‘Vetri Vel’ (a long weapon with a

flat sharp edge like a leaf at the top), which he adorns here.
