SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA.

APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM

Dear Baghavathas,

Accept Adiyen!s pranam,

A lively discussion is going on to acquire knowledge on Srivaishnava sampradhya. Adiyen am presenting here whatever knowledge has been grasped by me. A query has been raised as to why Emperuman did not come to help his ardent devotee immediately as He should be aware of such one. True, He is aware of that and also the final outcome . The episodes of Gajendra Moksham and Draupadhi,s Vastrabhaharanam reveal some subtle points which the present generation should know.

Almost all religious philosophies believe in a super power.

In Srivaishnava philosophy He is portrayed as Sriman Narayanan.

If one engage himself in the study of “Thathva”- (factual positions), it is PRANAVAM. ”OM”

PRANAVAM=is represented by the letters. A +U+M, for which elaborate explanations are offered. For the present we may confine ourselves in knowing that

A(Akaram) stands for Emperuman, Lord Sriman Narayanan

U(Ukaram) standas for Piratti, Sri Lakshmi and

M(Makaram) stands for Jeevas,All living AAthmas.

The combination of these three is eternal and they enjoy everlasting bliss.

This happens in Nithya Vibhudhi only

There is another place Leela Vibhudhi created by the Lord for his pleasure (Samsara). He is present here also and everywhere at all time, but not understood by us. Here also jeevas are present. The relation between Emperuman and Jeeva is inseparable. But, they are undergoing pleasure and pain; because they attach themselves too much to the created portion( Samsara). This kind of experience is inevitable as long as they are in samsara. However great the devotee may be, as long as he is in samsara he will have to face despair and bliss. Why does this happen? Because there are lots of oppurtunities for the Jeevas to rely on their efforts.

This creates sense of vanity “AHAM’ :I”, MINE AND I CAN DO THIS and so on which is detrimental for his spiritual progress.

To quit Samsara and to reach Nithya vibhuthi, the complete knowledge of himself and his relation with Emperunan and others and the way to get away etc., are necessary. Mere worship of Emperuman will not suffice.

Emperuman does not rush for help of devotees so long they rely on their efforts also.

Now, let us analyze the episode of Gajendra Moksham.

Gajendra, the mighty elephant, an ardent devotee of the Lord got entangled with the crocodile. He might have thought he can dispose of the insect easily because of his might and proceed with his worship.

But that was not an easy affair and he had to struggle for a long period. Rather, it took long time for him to think of Lord and the Lord allowed him to try his effort as long as he believed in his powers. The moment he realized his helplessness and cried AADHIMOOLAE, the Lord appeared in the scene and rescued him.

Another episode of Draupadi,

Another ardent devotee of Lord Krishna.

An innocent lady was dragged to the court of Duryodhana and was disgraced.

She is a princess full of royal blood and at the same time devotee of Lord Krishna.

It is quite right on her part to seek justice and help from the nobles present in the court

But all were helpless and could not come to save her. The only person who can save her is Lord Krishna In despair she desisted from her further efforts to save herself from disgrace and raised her hand and cried “GOVINDA”( are you blind I am in distress) I surrender to you SAVE ME. The very instant help was provided. She was saved But, Krishna was not present there,

OK

The Lord was present in the case of Gajendra but, He did not present himself in the case of Draupadhi. Why? .

In the case of Gajendra, he wanted to submit the lotus flower at Lord!s feet. After a long fight, naturally he will be tired and it is natural that Lord should present himself to receive it and to console him.

In the case of Drupadhi, she did not ask for His presence. Her request was to save her from disgrace which was promptly provided.

In both the cases, Gajendra and Draupadhi acted as they should do under normal circumstances. But, the redress was beyond their means. It can be done by Lord only.

He will definitely do it .But, he allows his devotees with their choices. He fulfill their wishes at the very instance it is asked.

He will never let down his devotees. But they should rely on HIM ONLY. Even their efforts are no exemption.

In the case of a devotee, like Azhvar he will subject him to tests, perhaps to reveal to the world that Azhvar is entirely dependant on HIM ONLY . This rule will apply to all good devotees also. He will ensure that such people do not falter in cases of difficulty and protect them wherever necessary. Because their thought, action and everything is on Lord and about HIM ONLY.
