Guest guest
Dear Bhagavadottamas, It is with deepest regrets we announce the demise of Sri U.Ve. Karappangadu Singarachariar Swamy (Jyeshta Kumarar of 'Mrithu bhashakar' Sri U.Ve. Karappangadu Venkatachariar Swamy). Swamy attained his Acharyan's lotus feet on the same day as Sri Swamy Emperumanar's charama nakshatram - masi thiruvadirai. Swamy's kainkaryam list can be published as a separate book (we planned to do the same soon). He was probably the single person who completely revived and took care of all the temple festivals of Sri Abheeshta Varadaraja Swamy at Karappangadu. Without thinking or caring about his own self, bothering about no bank balance or savings ('koNdapeNdi makkaL utrAr suttrattavar piRarum kaNdadhOdu pattadhallal kadhal matru yaadhumillai'), Swamy's only objective was, until he remained in this world, to celebrate all the festivals of Sri Abheeshta Varadaraja Swamy temple in a fashion that perumal's thiruvullam is utmost satisfied ('adhu kaaNum kaN payanAvadE'). His personal favorite festival was the Masi Theppam (Float Festival) that he had initiated upon perumal's instruction in 1987 and made it a grand gala celebration for the past 22 years. Even now, with only few days for the start of Theppa utsavam, he had already made all arrangements through his 'Abheeshta Varadan Kainkarya Sabhai', collecting and funding enough for the utsavam, before he attained his Acharyan's feet. His last minutes were spent only on thinking about how grand this festival must happen. A person of his sort, who had been eating perumal's prasadam as day to day food, living under perumal's shelter, thinking and breathing only about Him, is indeed a rarity and scarcity in Sri Vaishnava society (vAsudEva sarvam iti sa 'mahAtma' suDurlaBa:) adiyEn is proud to be his grandson and so are other the other blood relations. Swamy's final rites are being performed at his daughter's residence at Adanur, near Vandalur, Chennai.
