During this process, Azhwar answers some scholars who believe that sivan protected markandeyan, and hence he is supreme. When markandeyan was scared of yama, he embraced the siva lingam. Seeing this, yama started to drag both the lingam and markandeyan. It was Narayanan, who came to the protection of his bhakta at this juncture. He is the Supreme Being who resides in Thirukkurugoor. Continuing to describe the greatness of Adhinathan, Azhwar advises the souls in samsara to think of Thirukkurugoor to get Adhinathan reside in their hearts.
