Agalangabrahmarayar began building a wall inside Srirangam around the temple. This wall is called as 'adaiyavaLaindhan'. The home of Ilaiyazhvan was in the way and he attempted to destroy the home.

Bhattar told him "Do not think that the wall you are building is the protection for the Lord. It is the great devotees such as Ilaiyazhvan who live around here that protect Him. What you are doing is a good thing, no doubt. But don't develop an ego that these are your acts. Understand that He is doing all this through you. That is the way to your liberation."

MADHIL ILANGAI-k kOvai vEya

Lanka had big fortress and three walls. Wall of ocean, Wall of forest and stone wall.

These three walls are termed as 'mum-madhilL ilangai'.

However, are these walls the savour or protection?

Even at the outset , Tiruvadi was shrewd and powerful enough to pierce all these walls and enter the city and create havoc.

The real protection is Lord and not walls.

SvAmi Nam AzvAr mentions this in the first pAsuram of the third TiruvAimozhi of the fourth ten

'kOvai vAyAL poruttu ...

madhiL ilangai k kOvai vEya-ch charam thurandhai'
