Guest guest
hello everybody, The temple of Amirthabavalli Thayar sametha Yoga Narasimhaswamy is in Velachery (dandeeshwaram - velachery main road)is a abhimana stalam along with Vedanarayanaswamy , Sri Ramar seetha sannidhi & anjaneyaswami. This temple has Lord Narasimha with four hands and in a sitting posture facing the western direction, which is rare. The Goddess Amirthbalavalli (the same name with which she is worshipped at Ahobilam) is housed in a separate shrine in the main prakaram .But the place gets its name from Lord Vedanarayana Perumal, who is enshrined in the manimandapam of the temple. He is seen standing, facing west with the `Prayoga Chakra' (the holy disc) ready to leave his hand to slay the evil-doer. the temple is undergoing renovation now , was belived to be 700 to 800 yrs old untile the recent excavation ,that was carried as part of dismantling the sanctum sanctorum for renovation. PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING WITH THE RENOVATION WORK CAN CONTACT 'PRAHLAD KAINKARYAM TRUST' at PH: 94441 34843/ 94444 66840 or the EO , HR & CE at Ph : 92813 68309 For more details - see velachery talk dated 11 oct 2009 or contact the above numbers. join hands with prahlad kainkaryam trust to make renovation work to complete faster...thank you!!
