Guest guest
sri:srimathe ramanujaya nama:Erumbiappa is one of the ashta-dik-gajangal (Eight primary disciples who were established to protect/develop our sampradaayam) of Sri Manavala Mamunigal. His original name is Devarajan. His avathaara sthalam (birth place) is a village named Erumbi. While living and performing his dharma at his village, Erumbiappa hears about Sri Manavala Mamunigal and gets attracted towards him. This time period (of Sri Manavala Mamunigal) is called Nalladikkaalam by our purvacharyas. It is because of the fact that, during this period, srivaishnavas could uninterruptedly enjoy the kalyaana gunams (divine qualities) of Emberumaan through our acharyas (mainly Sri Manavala Mamunigal) without any disturbance from external forces (Examples: In Sri Ramanujas time, he had to leave Srirangam to go to Melkote due to Saivite king. In PillaLokaachariars time, he had to leave Srirangam to go to down south due to Muslim invasion). This was the time when Sri Manavala Mamunigal was living in the divine abode of Srirangam, performing various kalakshepams, reestablishing temple activities/acharya purushas, etc. When Erumbiappa hears about Sri Manavala Mamunigal's vaibhavam, he comes to Srirangam for a visit. He comes and offers his obeisances to Sri Manavala Mamunigal and hears sat vishayams from him. But at the end of the day, he leaves Srirangam without taking the prasdam of Sri Manavala Mamunigal (citing Dharma saastram which says one should not accept any food from a sanyasi and if they do that they have to go do praayachitham for the same). When he gets back to his home town, in the morning after completing his anushtaanams, he tries to open the Kovil Alwaar (home pooja room) and his Thiruvaaraadhana perumal Chakkaravarthi Thirumagan (Sri Raman) does not let him open the doors and instructs him to take shelter of Sri Manavala Mamunigal. Hearing this Erumbiappa runs back to Srirangam, with the purushakaaram of Sri Kovil Annan, takes shelter of Sri Manavala Mamunigal and goes on to become one of the ashta-dik-gajangal.It is at this juncture (while taking shelter), he writes purva and uttara dinacharyas which explains the activities of Sri Manavala Mamunigal on a single day (from dawn to dusk) and later on writes vara vara muni sathakam. It is stated by our purvacharyas that, one should not eat prasadam (meals) without chanting purva and uttara dinacharyas (remembering the exalted/uncomparable lifestyle of Sri Manavala Mamunigal). It is such wonderful composition which makes even a stone melt after hearing these dinacharyas.Let us remember Erumbiappa who always remembers Sri Manavala Mamuingal on this auspicious day of his Thirunakshathiram.Erumbiappa's Thaniyan (purva/uttara dinacharayaas thaniyan):Sowmya jaamaatru yogheendhra sharanaambhuja shatpadamDevaraja gurum vande divya jnana pradham shubhamadiyen sarathy ramanuja dasan----- Forwarded Message ----Kaari Maaran Kalai Kaappagam <kaarimaarankaarimaaranSent: Sat, 31 October, 2009 10:26:24 PMTomorrow (01-Nov-09)Sri:Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear Bhagavathas, ThirumOgur Samprokshanam is scheduled on 01-Nov-09 (Tomorro).
