Priya Bhagavadottamas,

We are happy to inform you that the Theppotsavam(float festival) is being celebrated at Sri Perundevi Nayika Sameda Sri Abheeshta Varadaraja Swamy temple in Karappangadu. This is the 23rd consecutive year of celebration of this festival without any break so far despite so many hurdles that have come in the way which the lord had wiped away due to the faith and sincerety shown by the devotees who have been striving to make this happen.

In kaliyugam, Perumal has taken up the archavataram and has made himself easily accessible for everyone and the accessibility is there for everyone's lifetime. And he has come down in these (thamar ugandadevvuruvam) divine forms as liked by great gnanis(azhwar / acharya purushas) and is protecting us from all the evils of this yuga. But, alas, he does not take care of himself. A true devotee(adiyavan) is the one who asks the lord what He wants, instead of asking Him for his/her own benefits. When such true devotion is displayed to the lord, his eternal grace is felt around imminently and is what is called as Sannidhyam. Festivals, celebrations etc are not the needs of the God. It is an opportunity that is created by true devotees through which they make other mundane (samanya) beings meet the Lord. When more people come and worship Him(koodi irundhu kulirndhu), more than being worshipped, the lord is happy(aham sa cha mama priya:) about their mere presence itself(in archai he can't simply walk out and go and meet them). This happiness immediately transforms into torrential grace and blessings that restores the ever fading global peace and prosperity (loka-kshema). So, when such celebrations are held and when one participates in such occasions his / her well being, wealth and other benefits(nidhi, srinidhi, sannidhi) are automatically sanctioned as a by-product and one need not even ask for it.

I have seen that during this theppotsavam, every year, people from almost all corners of the surrounding villages and towns come and get the blessings of the divine couple Sri Perundevi nayika sameda Sri Abheeshta Varadaraja Perumal. Isn't it a wonderful opportunity for the Lord to see his children coming unto him? And should anyone expect anything more when He Himself is available in such an accessible form being with us through such grand celebrations?

I am indeed in a way proud that my grand father Late Sri. U.Ve Karappangadu Singarachariar Swamy resumed this float festival and had organized this festival with Sri Perundevi manaalan Perarulalan's grace for the past 22 years. Last year he left us all to paramapadam at the age of 83 but before leaving he made sure the festival arrangements were well taken care of.

This year with Perarulalan's grace, perumal's sincere devotees have taken significant initiatives and are putting their best to make this festival happen so that this festival doesn't stop.
