Guest guest
SRIMATHEY RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA EMPERUMAANAR THIRUVADEGALE SHARANAMDear Bhagavatha Bandhus,The longivity of Human beings cannot be guessed by anyone except the Emperumaan, some may live long like our Jagat Achariyan, Swamy Ramanuja (120 years) and some may quickly end up like our Nam alwar (35 years) Whatever may be the span, do we make our time in a useful way? no is the answer, due to our ignorance we waste all our life, end up consequently leading to another birth, thus we recycle in the samasara. this is beautifully described by Thondariadipodi Alwar in Thirumaaalai, as Veda Noor Prayam NOOruManishardham Pugavarelum Padhium Urnge PogumNindrathanil PathinaiyanduPedhai Balagna thaagum, Penee, Pasi, Moopu ThunbamAadhalal Piravi Venden Aranga Ma Nagarulanee. Meaning: According to Vedas, Human span life is 100 years, divided into day and night, we sleep all nights, leading to 50% off which means our span is remaining 50 years, out of which the first 15 years, being a small infant, then our childhood days, we dont have knowledge of things, thus we are left with only 35 years, where in we are effected by (disease, hunger, age factor, distress/problelms etc) here alwar means to say, we get affected by the following things and concentrate only on them ( livelihood, spouse, children, loan, repayments, diseases, health factors, age factors) where is the time to pray to god? where is the time atleast to realize our ignorance? how many of us really do know, that we are caught in samsara cycle? Where are the answers to these questions? So our Alwar prays to the Lord of Sri Rangam to never give him birth again. Many of us know these alwars pasurams, but never give a thought to it, punarapi Jananam Punarapi Maranam is our slogan the 16th stotra of Munkunda Mala by Sri Kulasekara Alwar says Jihve keertheya Kesavam, Muraripum Chetho! Bajha SridharamPanidhavanthva samarchayachuthakathaha strotravaya thavam srunukrishnam lokya lochana thvya! Hareer kacchangriyumalayamJikra krana! Mukundha pada tulasim moordhan! namadhoshajam Come O! tounge, sing the glory of KesavanO soul,! think the glory of kannan Emperumaan who killed the demon Murasura! The purpose of our arms is to do archana to ThirumaalOur ears are being given to us only to hear the glory of Sri Krishan, who never lets down his devotees! O Eyes, see his beauty, divinity, his eyes filled with compassion towards all jeeva rasisLimbs are given to take our body to his templeOur nose is given to have the fragnance of Tulasi, which is kept at his feet And with our head, we should bow to his lotus feetAccording to alwars, all the five senses and other parts of the body are given by the lord, for us to make use of it to realize him, but we do make use all of them for other purposes apart from this. Such is our ignorance. Let us all give a thought to this, let us all take a resolution, that we would devote atleast 30 minutes a day singing, hearing or getting absorbed in his glory, this is only to start with, once we get a command over ourselves, we can go ahead with it. Practice makes man perfect, let us all be perfect, if we take a small step towards the lord, he will take big leap towards us to help , he is karunamoorthy, kripasindu,, the thayar with all her compassion recommends to him to save us, when we fall at his thiruvadi, they are both made for each other, Both perumal and thayar compete with each other in saving the jiva atmas like us, neither he or his nama sakeertanam will let us down, try to chant his name many a no of times without counting, and make it as mannerisim, this will help us in our last minute in our last journey, Tirumangai Alwar says, sri padha thangigal (pal quin bearers of perumal vahanam in temples) if u watch them, u can see a huge bulge on their shoulders, indicating, the proof their being sri padha thangigal, similarly we must all have a bulge in our tounge reciting Krishna nama sankeertanam ( chanting sri krishana mantram) . the last days are described by Perialwar in his perialwar Thirumozhi as follows: puss overflows on the wounds all over the body and flies, mosquitoes and other insects surround the wounds, eyes would not open, when even called by the dearest ones, respiration goes on very slowly, all the five senses fail, the porridge or any other liquid, poured into the mouth comes out by the side of the lips flowing over chin and neck the soul may think, all the life times wasted thinking the welfare ofwife, parents, children, relatives etc, now who is my saviour, Oh i could see the yama duthas, Oh due to my ignorance i never chanted kesava! Purushottama! what shall i do now? Alwar laments over the position of the layman, and warns us before u all to reach this position, start chanting his nama sakeertanam, he says "appoidhaiku ippo dhe solli vaithen" he says, since it is impossible for us to chant his nama during that stage, you can chant now before u reach that stage, if we cultivate this habit, there is a great possibility of us uttering his name in the above stage. My grandfather used to say, dont judge your worthiness by the receipts of fixed deposits, or share investments or by the property documents you possess but by the number of people who surround you, with tears in their eyes on your last journey. True were his words, we spend all our life earning money, material, which dont come with us, but we dont care for the dharma, which is going to join our ultimate journey, friends this is the thought for the day, Let us be good, think good, do good, love for each other is the only mantra taught to us by our sampradaya, A true sri vaishnava is one who laments, gets distressed and feels for the sorrow postion of any other person. and immediately helps to the possible extent, . Vaishnava Dharma is the sanathna dharma, it wishes everyone to live and let live, "sarve jana sukino bhavanthu" and loka samastan sukino bhavanthu" says our sampradaya no other dharma, religion in this world has this broad thinking, we are all very blessed to be born in such a great sampradaya. Let us all hail our dharma, may our vaishanava dharma live long, may the glory of sri rangam be eternal, may the glory of our acharyas and alwar be immortal If any error, kindly apologise this is purely due to my ignorance.
