Guest guest
Dear Lakshmi Narasimhan swami,Very nice explanation - yes the whole aarthi prabhandam is like a beautiful Jewel box and this pasuram is like the crown jewel (similar to Thirumaalai - Memborul pogavittu paasuram). adiyen sarathy ramanuja dasanRe: The unique acharya - Swamy Manavala Mamunigal Posted by: "Lakshmi Narasimhan" v.lakshminrusimhan v.lakshminrusimhan Sat Mar 13, 2010 8:18 pm (PST) asmad guruByO nama: srimad varavara munayE nama: srimathe rAmAnujAya nama: Dearest Swamin, It was a fantastic write-up. > * Finally, he himself declares in aarthi prabhandam - "piRar minukkam poRAmaillA perumayaum petRROmE" - he is not jealous about someone's happiness - that itself is a great quality. Regarding the above point, I just wanted to add a little more. A person who has everything with Himself, will never be jealous of anyone for anything. The list that constitute the "everything" is mentioned in the first 7 lines 1. Tennarangar seer arulukkilahaahap peRROm - we are gifted to be under the protection and grace of Lord Sri Ranganatha (Sriman Narayana). 2. Thiruvarangam ThiruppathiyE iruppaaha peRROm - we are gifted to be residing in Sri Rangam (divyadesam) . 3. manniya seer MaRan kalai uNavaahap peRROm - we are gifted to have Sri Satakopa Muni's prabhandams as our daily food (nalayira divya prabandam). 4. Madhura kavi soRRppadiyE nilayiaahap PeRROm - we are gifted to be blessed with the charama parva nishtai i.e. chastity towards our Acharyan's feet.(Our Acharyan) 5. munaavarAm nanguravar mozhikaL uLLappeRROm - we are gifted with all our Purvacharya works. 6. muzhudhum namakkavai pozhudhu pOkkAgap peRROm - and we are gifted to be spending our time only on those works.(even for time pass) 7. pinnai onRu tanil nenju pErAmal peRROm - and we are gifted with NOT having our mind distracted on ANYTHING ELSE. So, if one has all of the above why would one even feel jealous of others is the point. Also, in every sentence Swamy never says 'petren' instead says 'petrom' which could be understood as referring to all the true Sri Vaishnavas. So, we as Sri Vaishnavas and Ramanuja dasas (ubhaya-kalaiyars) have everything to give to others(compassion, wisdom, bhagavad bhAgavada Acharya sambhandam and so on) whereas we have absolutely nothing to be taken from others except for their pains. Apologies for providing wrong information.adiyen sarathy ramanuja dasan----- Forwarded Message ----Sarathy Thothathri <sarathy_t >sarathy_t Fri, 12 March, 2010 10:15:49 PMThe unique acharya - Swamy Manavala MamunigalSri:Srimathe ramanujaya nama:Srimad vara vara munaye nama:Today is the auspicious day of Maasi Krishna Paksha Dwaadasi. On this day 1414 AD, RuthirOdkaari varusham (tamil)Sri Manavala Mamuni ascended to ParamaPadam after spending 73 years, 4months and 22 days in this Bharatha desam. In Thiruvallikeni (Chennai) Vanamamalai Mutt we had 5 days of grand celebration (with Thiruvaimozhi Goshti in the evenings for the first 4 days) ending with Thadhiyaradanai on the morning of Dwaadasi. In the evening Sri U.Ve. Pillai Lokam Sthalsayanthuraivar Swamy gave a wonderful upanyasam on the glories of Sri Manavala Mamuni. As his glories are many and are to be remembered/recited by Srivaishnavas everyday, we try to remember/recollect them today. There are many special qualities which Swamy carries.* He is famously named as Periya Jeeyar. Though he is a Jeeyar like many others in our Sampradayam - Periya perumal (Sri Ranganathan) accepted him as his Acharya in Periya Koil (Sri Rangam). So he became to be called Periya Jeeyar.* Though there are many acharyas in our Sampradayam, Periya Perumal selected Swamy to give lectures for one year (all 360 days without any stop) on Thiruvaimozhi as explained in the Idu 36000 padi (Nampillai's magnum opus) and 4 other vyaakyaanams (6000 padi - Pillaan,9000 padi - Nanjeeyar, 24000 padi - Periya vaachan pillai, 12000 - vadhi kesari jeeyar). The amazing part is Periya Perumal ordered all festivals (including brahma utsavams) to be stopped during this one year when we was eagerly listening to Periya Jeeyar.* It is well known that at the end of the Idu Kaalakshepam, Periya Perumal appeared as a child Periya Perumal and presented a thaniyan to Swamy which is "SriSailesa daya paathram deepakthyaathi gunaaranvam. Yathiindra pravanam vandhe ramya jaamaatharam munim".* It is also well known that in all temples from Kanyakumari to Himalayas (now outside India too), all sevakalams beginwith saluting Swamy (srisailesa daya paathram...) and ends with (manavala maamnuiye innumoru nootrandirum) . This isso because of the divine order of Periya Perumal to all divya desams as soon as he submitted the thaniyan to Swamy thatthis should be the procedure.* Though there are many acharyas in our sampradayam, it was only Swamy who received the sesha paryangam (peedam)from Periya Perumal as Acharya Sambhavanai. Even today, when we go take darshan of Swamy, we can see him on thesesha peedam in all archa vigrahams.* This thiruvadhyayana utsavam itself is unique that - for no other Acharyas in our guru parampara we see this is being celebrated. That is because we have a living disciple - Periya Perumal - who leads us from the frontin celebrating this grand festival. Today in Srirangam, Periya perumal's archakaas, paricharakaas, paraphernelia (all items),even veenai ekantham, etc - come to serve Swamy in Swamy's Sannidhi. * His bhakthi towards Udayavar is unparallel, never seen before him - nor to be seen after him. We can easilygrasp that if we ever go through his master pieces - Yairaja Vimsati (sanskrit) and Aarthi Prabhandham (Tamil).* The reason why he got the title "Visadavaak Sikaamani" can be understood if one listens to/reads his vyaakyanams for periyalwar thirumozhi, Mumukshipadi, Sri Vacana Bhushanam, Tattva Trayam and Acharya Hrudhayam.* His good nature can be understood if one listens to/reads his life history in Yatiindra pravana prabhaavam.* Finally, he himself declares in aarthi prabhandam - "piRar minukkam poRAmaillA perumayaum petRROmE" - he is not jealous about someone's happiness - that itself is a great quality.Alas, he had to leave us, but his life history and instructions are great inspirations for us to follow. And ofcourse his archa vigrahams are always there in most of the divya desams/kshetrams to bless us, purify us and engage us in his service. All mistakes in this write up are adiyen's and if there is anything good it is by the grace of adiyen's acharyan.adiyen sarathy ramanuja dasan____________ _________ _________ __Your Mail works best with the New Optimized IE8. At times, it is also incorrect. If you wish to get a good english translation, I'd recommend the 3 volume Gita Bhashya by the late Tirukallam Swami, asthana vidvan of Ahobila Mutt. This book, translated in english by a Dr. Jagannathan, is based on the authentic gita bhashya of Emperumanar and Tatparya Chandrika of Vedanta Desikan. Obviously, without Tatparya Chandrika, Emperumanar' s Gita Bhashya cannot be enjoyed. In addition, each chapter begins with a summary and Yamunacharya' s Gitarta Sangraham. The mahatmyam of each chapter is also given at its end, from Padma Purana as a discussion between Siva and Parvati. The author also has given the viewpoints of Sankaracharya and Madhvacharya for each sloka, for comparison. Furthermore, points of divergence between Vadakalai and Thenkalai are indicated, wherever appropriate. For tamil translations, Puttur Swami's publications would be an excellent choice.Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan,Narayanan. Dear Bhaghavathas: Pranams, with our beloved ParamaAcharyan Swami ManavalaMamunigal, our Visadavak sikamani Anugraham and also today on our beloved Acharyan's Theertham(Thiruvadh yena Uthsavam) , it gives all of us a privilege and divine opportunity to be a part of VaravaraMuni Adiyar Koolam or VaraVaraMuni Sambandhis by joining on our new websiteWWW.VaraVara Muni. com. This website, intends to provide a common platform, for varavaramuni sambandhis, those who believe in "Manavala Maamunigale Innamoru nootrandirum" to maintain their Acharya Sishya sambandhamWhy there is a new site: To uphold the ideals of our beloved ParamaAcharyan in this polluted Kali Yuga, nowadays where in, homams, jayantis supercede prapana kulam, it's our complete responsibility to stick onto the ideals of ourKribhaaMaathra PrasaannaAcharyar. This site is an attempt by few VaraVaraMuni Sambhandhis and we conceived the concept of Varavaramuni. com as our platform to link our Acharyas and their Sishyas and there is no better name than Varavaramuni as Swami alone has insisted the importance of Charama parvam or Anthimopaya Nishtai. What is the purpose of this new site and day to day activities:1) The purpose of this site is to basically increase the public awareness of the need to srengthen, support and maintain all of our VaravaraMuni Sambandhis(Their Acharya Sishya Sambandham). 2) It intends to create a wide network of all our Varavaramuni sambandhiswho are our extended family. It provides details of all our AcharyaPursha' sand their Sishyas information with their Thirumaligai Details. 3) It also continually provides a common channel to communicate and learn our Purvacharya Works and Granthams through Tele-bridge upanyasams, articles from various scholars and Acharyas.Support to our Acharyas through their Sishyas:1)As said by our beloved Visadavak sikamani, Our beloved acharyan Manavala maamunigal, "Acharyan Sishyan Aaruiyrai penubavanThesaarum sishyan avan seer vadivai nookum.." (Upadesa RathinaMalai) . It is the responsibility of Acharya to take care of Sishya's Atma guna poorthi. Likewise, its sishya's duty to take care of Acharyan's thirumeni. 2)Moreover as our beloved ParamaAcharyan alone nicely explained and given the Vyakyana for the Charama PARVAM (Final stage of Prapyam)of Acharyan Kainkaryam(Importan ce to Acharya Kainkaryam , in SriVachana Bhushanam , given by our beloved swami Pillai UllagaA Siriyan (Swami Pillai Lokachariyaar) .. "Prapyathuku Prathama Parvam Acharya KainkaryamMadhya Parvam Bhagavath KainkaryamCharamaParvam Bhaghavatha Kainkaryam". (Acharya Kainkaryamae CHARAMA PARAVAM!!) The kainkaryam we do to Emberuman based on our Acharyan's happiness- called Acharya Kainkaryam. The Kainkaryam we do to Bhaghavathas based on our Emberuman preethi- called Bhagavath Kainkaryam. The Kainkaryam we do to our Acharyan based on our Bhaghavathas happiness- called Bhaghavatha Kainkaryam. 3) Moreover our beloved Swami explained in Mummukshupadi ,as Manthirathillum( thiruManthiram) , Manthirathuku Ullaana Vasthuvillum( Sriman Naryanan), Manthra Prathanana ACHARYAN pakallilum PREMAM Undanaal Kaarya KaramaAvathu. So our VaravaraMuni Adiyar Koolam intend to provide full health insurance to all our Acharyas through only by theirSishyas for doing their Bhagavat/Bhagavatha kainkaryams. (Each AcharyaPursha' s Thirumaligai Sishyas will be providinghealth insurance to their respective Acharyas, VaraVaramuni. comjust provide a platform). Our 2010 Initiative and project Goals:1) Integrate the VaraVaramuni portal with at least four Acharyas Thirumaligai details with their sishyas Sambhandham: It is said that every cloud has a silver lining. By working co-operatively, we could bring a portal, which tries to bring in all our Acharya Acharya Purushas to their sishyas(AcharyaSish ya Sambhandham through their Sishyas). In current day, all Varavaramuni sambandhis live across globe. This proposes a new challenge. How to be in touch with Acharya and know what is happening in their respective Thirumaaligai and associated divyadesa m of Acharyas. We will be updating all our Acharya Purshas and their Thirumaligai Details soon through their sishyas. Each Thirumaligai details will have a separate link below with their Uthsava Kramam, Nirvagis, and their Thaniyanswith their Acharyas details. 2 )Through our VaravaraMuni Adiyar Koolam, provide full health insurance at least to four Acharyasthrough only by theirSishyas. By working co-operatively ,we could provide complete health insurance to our Acharyas their respective Sishyas in their DivyaDesam. VaraVaramuni Sambhandhis would provide only a common platform to make this happen through their AcharyaSishya Sambhandham. With this platform, our Acharyas in their Thirumaligai would have their complete health insurance through their sishyas for every year and VaraVaramuni would be giving a complete platform to achieve this. 3)Continually provides a common channel to communicate and learn our Purvacharya Works and Granthams through Tele-bridge upanyasams,This year we are planning to start SriVachanaBhushanam Kalakeshepam, Bhaghavath Vishyam Kalakeshepam, Acharya Hrudhayam based on incomparable commentaries given by our belovedswami ManavalaMamunigal.Introducing Varavaramuni Nirvagis:Adiyen would like to take a minute of you and introduce the team Varavaramuni and their Point of Contact.Current Core Team:Dasarathy Elayavilli Ponnappan Swamin & Gopalakrishnan Gomadam Azhagiyamanavalan.1) Dasarathy Elayavilli Ponnappan Swamin,Swamin was born and brought up @Srirangam DivyaKhsetram under the able guidance of our beloved Mahavidwan Sri.U.Ve.
