Guest guest
Jaisrimannarayana to you all!!! After the parayan of the sankshepa ramayan, Kantha Chatussloki and Sri:sthavam HH Jeeyar Swamiji started the pravachan with A:pada:mapahartha:ram da:tha:ram sarvasampada:m Lo:ka:bhira:mam sri:ra:mam bhu:yo: bhu:yo: nama:myaham In his usual lucid style Sri Sri Sri Jeeyar Swamiji threw light on the importance of studying our Ithihaasas. He clarified what are Ithihasas, what is their relevence in the present day world and how would the human beings benefit from learning them. Itihasas say the story as it had happened and was recorded by the rishis. Ramayana belongs to Thretha yug, Bharatham to Dwapara and we are at present in the Kaliyuga. They belong to the past. Means how many yrs.hundreds? or thousands? or lacs of years? The past can be divided into ancient past and the recent past. Again what is the separation mark? We get the doubt. HH clarified us saying this swetha vara:ha kalpam can be considered as recent past considering the time of creation as anaadi. There had been innumerable creations, so many dissolutions and so many creations again. It is anaadi. So in this vast time frame what can be said as past and which period as present? Ramayan is the story during the thretha yugam. What is its relevence to us? Whose story is it? It is the story of a human being, Rama. We know he is the Paramathma Himself. But He lived like a perfect human being during that incarnation. Earlier He behaved like the Lord only. After the Rama avathara again He was the Parambrahma only. But as Rama he was a man a true man, a perfect human. So we have lots to learn from his life. We can incorporate atleast a minute fraction of it to get elevated and look forward to get released from the karma bondage. This body is the result of our past karma. We are lucky and He is so compassionate we are blessed by this perfect vehicle to travel to our goal. Think. You are presented with a proper vehicle which is capable of taking you forward in your journey. You love it so much, pay lot of attention, give a lot of importance, clean it wash it and decorate it but fail to use it in your travel. What is the result? The purpose of the vehicle is lost. The Itihasa teaches us the mode of proper journey in the correct path and direction. It provides the knowledge of the requisites for that safe travel and how can one cultivate and nourish those merits. It is just like farming. The plant, growth, giving of flowers and fruits goes on in the same manner. But when we provide the correct manures and pesticides, there will be good improvement in the produce. So also our life. Hence we need to study our itithasas. It provides us the strength and conviction to face the hastles and overcome the hurdles. Let us not sink deeper and deeper into the samsaram. Let there be proper coordination between our jnanam and the bodily activities. Our karma bondages dissolve slowly and we reach his abode. Need not bother about what happens after we attain moksha. He will take care of it. The state of jiva in the divine abode is explained in the 13 chapt of Gita by Lord Krishna. The itihasas form the evidence for the recent past. We do have pramanas for the ancient past in VEDA. So follow dharma. Know dharma and its practice from itihasas. Overcome the obstructions. Become a true human. Then the travel becomes a meaningful, goal-oriented journey. Look into Sri Ramayana. There are many hundreds of versions. Valmikis is the authentic. We will start Ayodhya kanda after a brief insight into the previous Balakanda. Jai Srimannarayana! Thus todays pravachan ended. This is not the full lecture. Lot more is left and this is a tiny excerpt. Asmad gurubhyonamaha! Ramanujadasi.
