Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! As everyday HH started the day with parayan of sankshepa ramayana. Several devotees joined HH and his divine discourse started. Here are a few experiences of HH Sri Sri Sri Jeeyar Swamiji that HH enlightened the devotees about: Sriraghunandana Parabrahmane namaha! We entered Ayodhya kanda. Sri Rama’s qualities become very clear in this kanda. Valmiki showed the earlier happenings in Ayodhya before the pattabhisheka ceremony of Sri Rama. Bharatha’s maternal uncle Yudha:jit came to Dasaratha and asked him to send Bharatha to his place. He wanted only him but Satrughna also followed him like a shadow. The ji:va should be like this with regard to Paramathma and acharya. We should listen to purvacharyas and elders and follow their advice and behave in the way they want us to. It is pa:rathanthratha. What is its limit? Shatrughna reached the highest point; he followed Bharatha like a shadow, like an inanimate object. A jiva, who aspires for ‘athma ujjivana’ should be like this. When love and affection ripened and forced him, he followed him. What did he do there? King Aswapathi, treated both the children, ‘puthra snehe:na la:litham’. Here Shatrughna was not bothered about their hospitality. He went there only for Bharatha's sake. ‘sa thathra nyavasan bhra:thra:’ = he stayed there with his brother. Lakshmana too followed Rama to the forest to serve Him; we see his mother advising him – that she gave birth to him to serve Rama who is also referred as Vana. In Ke:na upanished Bhagavan is called ‘vanam’ – meaning ‘ever new’. Among Lakshmana and Satrughna, the later is more qualified as his devotion is mellowed. Serving Rama’s devotees is more noble and important than serving Rama Himself. Lakshmana took his mother’s permission where as Satrughna did not think it was needed to take permission from his mom. Sumithra instructed Lakshmana be focussed while walking behind Sri Rama lest he may get drawn to the enchanting beauty of SriRama’s walk, which is like a whirl- pool. Rama's enchanting beauty would cause Lakshmana to lose focus of divine service. This would affect the purpose of his visit - which was service to SriRama. There was no necessity of instructing Satrughna thus. How could Bharatha stay away from Rama? He went to his uncle’s place as he was invited and Dasaratha sent him there, but he did not pay attention to their hospitality or comfort. ‘bhra:thra: nyavasath’ = Bharatha loved his brother and stayed there. His heart was filled with Rama. He felt his closeness to him in his heart. So, feeling closeness is more psychological. Always believe the Lord is always there in your heart and around you. How to believe? See Bharatha. He always had Rama in his heart. What ever given to him or done to him – he felt it was Rama’s. Later we see him adoring Rama’s padukas and bowing to them feeling them to be rama’s representatives; worshipping Rama in ‘pa:duka:rupam’. While in his uncle’s house, he felt Rama’s presence in everything around him. When Rama came back to Ayodhya he worshipped him in the ‘a:kruthi ru:pam’ All children are equal in the eyes of parents. Still they think more about the children that are away. In the same manner, Dasaratha’s heart was filled with love on Bharatha and Satrughna who were like Mahendra and Varuna- just the way one loves the four limbs that are on his body. Lord had special affection for his child Chaturmukha Brahma. Thus Dasaratha had a special love on his first son Rama who made others happy on seeing him. He loved Lakshmana because he served Rama, loved Bharatha because he loved Sri Rama and liked Satrughna as he served Bharatha. Like Vishnu loved Brahma, Dasaratha loved Rama. When ever he took incarnation on this earth all his weapons came down in different forms. Vishnu became Rama, Adisesha became Lakshmana, Garukmantha became Bharatha and Vikshvaksena became Satrughna. When the devathas prayed to Vishnu to resque them from Ravan, he took birth as asked by them. Vishnu, the all pervading was born at a place with a form. He is ‘sanathanam’ who is eternal. He was born in a particular time. Thus he came as a human being Rama. His divine attributes are unlimited. He always kept his both parents happy. Ayodhya kanda reveals all his attributes. We will know more about them tomorrow. Jai Srimannarayana! adiyen Ramanujamma Ramanuja Dasi
