Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! In the pravachan on , Aug.6th, HH Sri Sri Sri Jeeyar Swamiji continued explaining Sri Rama’s divine attributes expounding which the Ayodhya kanda moves forward. What practice is needed here? Who is He? How to utilize this body and life? We have answers for these questions in the 13th chapter of Gita - Kshetra kshetrajna vibhaga yogam. Githa is the theory part where as in Ramayana Rama showed what is the good practice. First he wanted to practice and then tell the world what to do. He did practice for 11,000yrs., and preached the world. Look into Gita for his upadesams and look into Ramayana to see how to practice it. The whole world loved Rama. Why? How did he behave in such a manner? We too like to be loved like that. What should be done for that? Rama showed us how to behave through his life in Ayodhya kanda. Valmiki asked Narada about 16 qualities. Narada showed him many and about 64 gunas which human beings can follow. There will be many ‘karthum yo:gyam’ but Rama showed us what ever is possible – ‘karthum sakyam’. Rama was loved and admired by all. How was it possible? Rama was very beautiful with his complexion ‘neeli me:gha syama’. He had all the good qualities in full. That gave him all the charm. His first characteristic is ‘veeryava:n’. He does not change. But he can change others. Who ever met him was elated to be in his presence. Even the seers who had renounced the world were awe struck and delighted to see him. Even the demon Surpanakha could not help but praise his beauty. Her brother the egoistic Ravan too was astonished at Rama’s magnificence. But Rama did not move or change on seeing any one, any form or any beauty and he was steady. Among the six qualities ‘sha:dgunyam’ of Bhagavan, vi:ryam is one. He is sturdy and unshakeable though he bears the whole universe. This is his gunam, he does not move but enables everything to be on the move. He is not tired. That is veeryam and naischaryam. He is ‘anasu:yakaha’. One who cannot tolerate good things in others, feels jealous and when this feeling increases, it turns into ‘asu:ya’ - projecting his good as evil. The good in one is made out to be bad. Rama had not a trace of ‘asu:ya’. Kaikeyi was doubtful how would Rama take her boons. But when she announced on her husband’s behalf, he at once felt happy his brother Bharatha would be the king. Next he was excited to go to vanam. Seethamma later reveals the secret that Rama first agreed to Bharatha’s coronation in his heart and then he expressed it in words. ‘bhu:mou anupamaha su:nuhu’ Kausalya is the greatest mother on earth to have given birth to such a wonderful son after bearing him in her womb for twelve months. Indra’s mother Adithi too is great. Rama kept his mother always happy. Even before going to the forest he convinced her. ‘gunaihi dasaratho:pamaha’ – He was greater than Dasaratha in his qualities. Rama ‘sa cha nithyam prasa:ntha:thma:’ –had always peace of mind unlike his father. ‘mrudu pu:rvanthu bhashathe:’ – he always talked very softly. Api ‘uchya ma:no:pi’ – even if anyone accused him or mocked at him, his reaction was always sweet or balanced. Actually who all came to accuse him were spell bound by his mesmerizing charm and eulogized him. Why was it so? Reason - He is prasa:ntha:thma:.(had a peaceful mind) Nature is like a mirror around us, reflects us as we are. If we like a person, then we bear what ever he or she says. If we don’t, we become passive. Every thing depends on how we feel and react. Life gives us either happiness or grief. But it should not shatter our peaceful mind. Rama was like that. Reactions should be at the body level and it is natural for all beings. If that reaction is not there, we can assume the body is unfit or dead. He happily accepted to go to forest. The kingdom or the forest both belonged to his father. When we know it is ours, we react positively. ‘ra:jyam va: vanava:so: va: vanava:so: maho:dayaha’ He is ‘a:thma va:n’ Here athma means manas. He was a man of ‘good worthy manas’. To be able to keep one’s mind undisturbed is a human quality. Let us practice it! Jai Srimannarayana!
