Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana!!! Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!! In the pravachan on 17th August, HH swamiji explained about the parathathvam and Sri after the parayan. Lord Srimannarayana takes many incarnations, some times as a human being, other times like a super human, just to help us out by instructing us the right direction providing us the scriptures to follow. What is the reason for him to take so many incarnations? It is his compassion and sympathy on us. Who brings out that feeling in Him? Divine Mother has that power. She is known as – Lakshmi, sri:, Indira, Lo:ka ma:tha, Rama: , mangala: de:vatha: Famous among these names are – Lakshmi and Sri: Veda says – ‘hri:schathe: lakshmi: scha pathnyau:’; gives managalasasanama saying - ‘sri:rbhavathu’ How to address him? Use a name that brings out the compassion in him. Lakshmi na:ththa; sriyahpathi. If she (Lakshmi) boosts the compassion in him, He is the one who saves us with that compassion. We can recognize one with the help of some unique identification marks or features. It is called ‘lakshma’ in Sanskrit. What is lakshma for the Lord? It is ‘compassion’ (daya) If he has compassion we can approach him. This quality is the nature of Lakshmi. It is ‘Lakshmi’ – Mother who invokes daya – compassion in Lord. She is the personification of daya. We worship her. We have to surrender to a thathvam which has daya as his characteristic. The vedas and sasthras explored for the parathathvam and found him out as ‘ve:da:ntha:h thathva chintha:m murabhi thurasi yath pa:da chihnaih tharathi’ The Vedas trying to recognize the mu:la thatvam found out: Murabhith – Narayana’s Urasi = chest Pa:dachihnai = foot prints as One whose chest has her foot prints on. Being present there what does she make him do? Sri: - her other name gives us the explanation. Sri: - she does listen to us. She makes him (Lord) listen to her. She accepts our refuge at her feet. She prays to Lord for the chethana’s protection and makes him accept us. The mu:la thathvam is always with ‘Sri:’. So He is sure to save us. So the thathvam is Sriman Narayana Thathvam’ This month is known as ‘Sra:vana mas’, because she is accessible to us alone to listen to us. So we worship mother during this month. In this cha:thurma:syam we are daily praying to mother reciting Sri:sthavam composed by Srivatsachihnmishra. HH gave the essence of the first sloka. We will know that in the next posting.
