Guest guest
Jai srimannarayana The thirunakshatram celebrations of HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji are in full swing. Remembering our Paramacharya fondly, HH started explaining the stothram of thridandi vimsati, composed by Gudimella Ramanujacharya swami while in Sriku:rmam commending HH Pedda Jeeyar Swami’s in 20 slokas which is like Yathiraja vimsathi on Ramanujaacharya swami. We need to approach Lord through our Acharya. Same way when we approach acharya, we need to go through some that are close to Him. Thelikicharla Gopalacharya swami and Pedda Jeeyar Swami worked in unison for the enrichment of the society. They both looked upon each other with great reverence. Gopalacharya swami taught many great swamis and he was the guru to our Chinna Jeeyar Swami too. The first sloka of this stothra is a salutation at the lotus feet of Gopalacharya swami. Yassada: vijayathe: thridandina: Thridandam denotes the three thathvams: Jivas, prakruthi and Parama:thma thathvam. This prakruthi is of three types. The misra saththva prakruthi that consists of rajas, thamas and sathvam. The suddha sathva prakruthi which lies beyond the Viraja. The third is ‘sathva su:nyam’ which is devoid of all these gunas. This is ka:lam. But it is not Paramathma as some people project it. Even this is prakruthi only. Paramathma is within all these and outside them. So Yathis hold the thridandam always. One who holds thridandam is called a thridandi. In Bhagavatam there is a mention of thridandi. In krithayuga, Dattathreya an incarnation of Vishnu born to Athri and Anasuya for their tapas, to recover the Vedas, was a thridandi. He stayed there inside Melkota at the Dattathreya pushkarini for some time and there are his foot prints too. We know from the history that Ku:resa once wore his guru’s robes and took his thridandam and went to the cruel king’s court and represented his acharya as the king wanted to harm Ramanuja. After some time, Sri Ramanujacharya swami kept his saffron robes and thridandam at Dattathreya’s feet to sanctify them (in Melkota) and received them back as prescribed by the scriptures. In the course of his discourse Swamiji narrated a strange instance that happened long long ago. Once a great scholar Annagara:charya swamy asked Gopalacharyaswami thus: ‘How are you both (yourself and Pedda jeeyar swami) so close to each other? How is it possible?’ This is the reply that Gopalacharya swami gave: “See I am fully involved in teaching and writing books of philosophy. I don’t like to go into the public whereas Jeeyar swamy cannot stay away from public or programs. All my teaching to prepare eligible teachers or all my writings are meant to educate and enlighten the society. When I lack the ability to reach the public directly, he has wonderful capacities to interact and influence the society around. Our objective is the same. Our goal is the same – to enlighten and uplift the human race. When the goal is the same and you are strongly committed to it, then the differences would naturally vanish.” He was awe struck at his explanation. HH dealt with many more aspects very deeply. With thirtha goshti and prasada ghoshti today’s (27th) program came to an end. Jeeyar Thiruvadigale saranam! Jaisrimannarayana!!
