Guest guest
Pranam. I have the following questions: 1.Shradda is to be performed for forefathers and it is sinful if not performed. What about those not a part of our vedic dharma who do not believe in reincarnation since there is no fromal ceremony annually; is it sinful and do those souls suffer since not receiving the benefits of the ceremony ? 2.This question is not to start a debate on veg versus nonveg, etc. In our dharma consumption of beef is the worst sin (compared to other meats). Again what about those not belonging to our vedic dharma ? Is it sinful for them also ? Their religious texts do not appear to comment on that. Guest guest
Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam Jai Sriman Narayana With whatever little adiyen has acquired from HH's discourses, adiyen would like to explain this. All human beings on this earth belong our vedic system and have their origins in it. Whether they now represent India or America it is of no significance. As you might have heard and read Lord SriRamaChandra has ruled the whole world in His vibhavatara. Now this means that the whole of earth used be of people who were following our vedic system under one ruler. One might wonder how come we now have seven continents, people belonging to various races and all other religions. There's only dharma - sanatana dharma. HH was once mentioning that the 5th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam has a lot of information about how this earth is divided into seven continents. He was talking about a great King called Priyavrata who with his power and his chariot has divided the earth into seven continents and seven oceans. He was also explaining about how Kaplia aranyam became California and many other things. So this means that at one point in time we didn't have all these seven continents that we see today. With this information, if we look at our surroundings all of us have our roots in the vedic system. Now whether we believe it or not doesn't matter much. HH was once mentioning that if someone believes Vedas then he's a theist whether he believes in God or not. Anyone who doesn't believe in Vedas, it seems, is an atheist. Coming to your questions - adiyen's understanding is that both - not offering oblations to our forefathers and eating as you have mentioned are both sins. Our forefathers would suffer if we do not perform the required ceremonies. So it is of great importance to perform these with utmost sraddha. But we all know that the souls have to take birth-after-birth unless it attains moksham. So our forefathers if they haven't reached paramapadam, would have taken some other form. So what would happen to the oblations that we offer every year for these forefathers - as they have already taken birth elsewhere. Adiyen has learnt from a revered vedic scholar that the devas would receive these oblations and would transfer them to other's forefathers who haven't received them because their progeny haven't offered them. HH was once mentioning that the whole world is called Bharatha jaati (and not just Indians as we often are referred to today) and we all belong to it. So with that in mind we all belong to Vedic dharma and not following them will be sinful. Any misinterpretation of HH's discourses or misrepresenation of information is at adiyen's fault. Please pardon my ignorance if one finds such mistakes and kindly let us know. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan
