RAAMAAYANA by MAHARSHI VALMIKI, BAALAKAANDA, Canto LXX describes the SURYAVAMSAM (i.e.) SOLAR DYNASTY and RAGHUVAMSAM (i.e.) RAGHU’S DYNASTY in which LORD RAAMA was born. A Lotus appeared from the belly of SUPREME BRAHMAN LORD NAARAAYANA and in it arose LORD BRAHMA, the Creator of the entire Creation. LORD BRAHMA’s son is PRAJAPATI MAHARSHI MARICHI whose son is PRAJAPATI MAHARSHI KASYAPA. PRAJAPATI KASYAPA’s son is VIVASVAN, the SUN GOD, the Presiding Deity of the SUN. VIVASVAN’s son is VAIVASVATAMANU, who is also a PRAJAPATI, meaning the Head of the Progeny. VAIVASVATAMANU built the famous City of AYODHYA the Capital of his Empire. Ikswaaku, the first ruler of AYODHYA was the son of MANU. Ikswaaku’s son was Kuksi and his son was Vikuksi. Baana was the son of Vikuksi and his son was Anaranya. Anaranya’s son was Prthu and his son was Trisanku. Trisanku’s son was Dhundhumaara and his son was Yuvanaaswa. Yuvanaaswa’s son was Maandhaata and his son was Susandhi. Dhruvasandhi and Prasenjit were the two sons of Susandhi. Dhruvasandhi’s son was Bharata and his son was Asita. Asita’s son was Sagara and his son was Asamanja. Asamanja’s son was Amsumaan and his son was Dilipa. Dilipa’s son was Bhagiratha and his son was Kaakutstha. Kaakutstha’s son was the Great Raghu and his son was Pravrddha. Pravrddha’s son was Sankhana and his son was Sudarsana. Sudarsana’s son was Agnivarna and his son was Sighraga and his son was Maru. Maru’s son was Prasusruka and his son was Ambarisa. Ambarisa’s son was Nahusa1 and his son was Yayaati2. Yayaati’s son was Naabhaaga and his son was Aja. Aja’s son was Dasaratha and Dasaratha’s four sons were LORD RAAMA, LORD LAKSHMANA, LORD BHARATA and LORD SATRUGHNA. Jai Srimannarayana!
