Guest guest
Jai Srimmanarayana Dear devotees I would like to share my experiences with everyone about how life in Sri Ramanagaram is as I went there while I was in India. Sri ramanagaram was a beautiful 56 acre land which I visited on 28th July. Krishnaswamiji received us very well and at once showed us around passionately. We witnessed a very unique temple which I have not seen at all in all my time and traveling in India, it was a three-level temple in which the three-levels represented the forms of Narayana. SriRama, Sri Ranganatha, and Vaikunthanatha. Each of the dimensions was beautiful, the higher we went the more elaborate. At vaikuntham we felt as if we received a infinite joy in a matter of minutes by climbing up the holy stairs of the temple. Next we came down and took teertham and then we came out and met Yogendraswami. After that we went to the Blind College (NVJC). We met Kalyanji and Raviji and they showed us around the area. We interacted with them, but they were shy and unfamiliar with outsiders, but as I would soon find out, they became like brothers with my son and his friend. Lastly I was served Prasadam, and then left my son at the lotus feet of Sri Sri Sri Tridandhi China Jeeyar Swamiji for volunteering work at the blind college for 2 weeks. On Rakhi I came back and was welcomed by all the students because they had bonded well with my son and his friend. I was overwhelmed because my son became so close to these students who were a year to 3 years older than him. I was overjoyed that everyone was cooperating, and they even addressed me ''aunty''as if I was a close elder. The vedic school kids adressed me as ''Peddamma''I see a difference there. I met Swamiji while he was on his way to conduct a puja and I took his mangalashasanams. On the day we left from the ashram, there was a ceremony. The ceremony was delicate, it brought tears to my eyes, the children performances included jokes, songs, and slokas, music. There were kids from nearby villages close to mine and to my husband's. I felt a warm feeling when the girls were singing about a song on " Nanna " and that was actually a reference to Swamiji. God has been kind in finding Swamiji for us and the kids; he is kind, and is ready to help anyone at anytime, and we can see that from his motto''serve all beings is service to lord''. Some anecdotes heard from my son during his stay brings mixed reactions of tears and laughter; one such incident is one midnight when everyone was sleeping he heard some noise and he yelled who is there - pat came the reply from ramesh a student ''its me anna'' my son asked what are you doing in the midnight outside, are you not scared and ramesh said for me day and night are the same what difference does it make, im not getting sleep so I want to study and my son also came out and spent some time with him. Anther incident like there was an Australian construction worker who made friendship with blind students and he had problem with the mosquitos, so these students gave him a bat to hit the mosquitoes and the whole night all these students couldn't sleep because all they heard was the batting sound. I enjoy volunteering for JETUSA, I feel even closer to the system now that I have experienced seeing the ashram. I also keep calling the students every now and then. It was a great experience for me and my son since we both learned that everyone is equal in this world,to put in one word my son says that he " matured as a person " after his stay in the ashram. Finally I fell small experiences such as these do bring huge, major changes in life. Thank you all and thank you JETUSA members for this opportunity.
