A modest attempt with Acharya’s grace to put forward a simple translation of first chapter of Githa for Githa Jayanti. Vya:sam vasishtta naptha:ram| sakthe:h pouthra makalmasham| Para:sara:thmajam vande:| sukatha:tham thapo:nithim|| I offer my respects to the great maharshi Vedavyas - the great grand- son of sage Vasishtta, grand-son of sage Sakthi, son of great sage Para:sara and a great ascetic who keeps away from sins. Samyajnya:ya kala:pe:na| mahatha: bha:rathe:na cha| Upabrumhitha ve:da:ya | namo: vya:sa:ya vish*n*ave: || I offer my obeisance at the feet of Vedavyasa Maharshi who is the incarnation of Sri Mahavishnu; who authored the treatise of Brahmasuthras and Sriman Mahabharatham to elaborate clearly on the meanings of Vedam.
