Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana. I recently happened to buy a book on the reforms by Sri Ramanuja at tirumala, when i visited arthamur for Thirunakshetra celebrations. In the book it is mentioned that a king named Shanka prepared and intalled the idol of lord Venkateswara and the vimana (Ref: Bramhanda purana, 3rd chapter). This would be derogatory on the lord who is Swayambhu. I think, as the lord therein instructs the king to prepare an idol for the benefit of all the sinners and other such people, it is in the context of Vimana venkateswara, as the context is of vimana construction and definately not the Swayambhu Moolavar. Even though, I may be wrong in the interpretation, Bramhanda purana is a Rajasic purana, which need not be taken as an authority. Hence I feel, these sentences on the lord's idol are uncalled for and may be neglected. I pray to the learned to clarify the issue and correct me if I am wrong. Jai Srimannarayana.
