SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

 

Dear Bhaktas,

 

Sriman Dileepan Swamin has aptly chosen this day, the tirunakshatram

of Sri Alavandar, to move Malolan net to a new location. Today is also

the 152nd Tirunakshatram of Sri VeNNaRRangaRai Srinivasa

Mahadesikan Swami (Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami), the founding

father of Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam. This Mahan was an

epitome of JnAna, Bhakti, and Vairagya. His Anushtanam was known to

be legendary. Sri Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami rendered yeoman

Kaimkaryam for Sri Oppiliappan Koil. Wild bushes and thorns abounded

in the precincts of Sri Oppiliappan Koil. This great Mahan with the

help of Shishyas and Kaimkarayaparas was instrumental in clearing the

wild bushes and thorn-laden paths. Even to this day, Sevarthis

circumambulating the Temple remember with gratitude the Kaimkaryam of

this Mahan. This tradition of Kaimkaryam for Oppiliappan Swami

has been continued by successive Acharyas of Srimad Poundarikapuram

Ashramam, including the present Pontiff.

 

The Mantra Siddhi of Sri VeNNaRRankaRai Andavan Swami (

Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami) is tremendous. H.H. Sri Rangapriya

Mahadesikan Swami was mute until the age of five. His parents took

the young boy to an Upanyasam of Sri Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami.

After the Kalakshepam was over the boy and his parents went to

pay their respects to this Mahan. Sri Poundarikapuram Andavan

Swami asked the young boy " Un Per Enna " . Since the boy could not

speak, no answer was forthcoming. The boy's parents explained his

plight to the Mahan, whereupon Sri Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami

instructed the boy in Swami Desikan's Taniyan (Sriman Venkatanatharya:

) and the opening verse of the Hayagriva Stotram.

 

Lo and behold! the young boy reproduced these flawlessly. Sri

Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami was overjoyed and blessed the young

boy stating that he would become a great exponent of Yoga, and

a great Yativara. H.H. Sri Rangapriya Mahadesikan Swami has

composed a eulogy in praise of all Acharyas of Srimad Poundarikapuram

Ashramam as a mark of respect to Sri Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami

and other Acharyas who succeeded him.
