DEar BhakthAs :

Sri Murali Rangaswamy is doing a wonderful

Kaimkaryam on making Dr.V.N.Vedantha Desikan's

translations of the Sri Ranganatha PadhukhA

Sahasra (RPS)slOkams .

He sent me the following note on his anubhavam

of the 31st slOkam the RPS. I would like to share that

anubhavam with you .

A little later , we will try to create

home pages for the RPS with appropriate

graphics and images pertaining to the SlOkams

and Sri Rangam , where the Sri Sookthi was

composed .

>SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

>

>Dear Sriman Sadagopan,

>

>Thank you very much for the additional notes on Shlokams 30 and 31.

>The connection of the number 1000 to NammAzhwar's Pasurams, and

>Swami Desikan's Padhuka Sahasram are extremely touching to read.

>Sri Uttamoor Swami's Anubhavam is like Amrutam. Please permit

>Adiyen to share the following observations on verse 31.

>

>The Vamana Padhuka and Madhusudhana Padhuka provide a consummate

>illustration of the fact that the Padhukas crush the pride of

>arrogant ones while elevating the humble supplicant. In the Vamana

>Avataram, Mahabali ridiculed the Lord for the latter's request of

>three paces of land and laughed at Him in contempt. Lo and behold!

>the Trivikrama Padhuka in two paces deprived Mahabali of all his

>possessions. When Mahabali humbly submitted his head to the Lord's

>lotus feet, he was guaranteed Moksham (Divya Sampath). The Madhusudhana

>Padhuka is another marvellous illustration of arrogant

>ones meeting their doom. Duryodhana and Arjuna arrived in Dwaraka

>to seek the Lord's help for the Mahabharata war. The Lord was resting

>at that time in his private quarters. The haughty Duryodhana stood

>by the head-rest of the Lord's bed, whereas Arjuna paid respectful

>obeisance while standing near the Lord's Lotus feet.

>

>Swami Desikan implicitly refers to this characteristic of the Lord's

>Padhuka in the Dehalisa Stuthi. In it Swami Desikan uses the

>analogy of a bent tree-branch bearing laden with ripe fruit.

>Swami Desikan thus subtly instructs all to bow down with respect

>to the Lord's Shatari. Sri Alavandar salutes the Lord's Padhuka in

>the Stotra Ratnam as " Madeeya MUrdhanamalankarishyati "

>
