VedAnthAchArya varyO mE sannidhatthAM sadhA hrudhi " !! Shri Alavandar describes 'krutI' as the next Kalyana guna of our Lord. One who accomplishes whatever that has to be accomplished is called a 'krutI'. Our Lord has to protect all those who seek refuge in him, if our Protects them, the Lord being a protector becomes a krutI. Thus, who ever accomplishes all what is prescribed is a 'krutI'. Lord rAmA, did not swerve from the path of protecting those who took refuge in Him. Sage vAlmIki says that rAmA became a 'krutakrutyan'. We saw in our 2nd Posting that Shri Nadadur Ammal was impressed by our Swami even as a child and hence blessed him thus: Pratisthapita -Vedantah Prati-kshipta-bahirmatha bhuyas-trai-vidya-maanyas-tvam buri kalyana-bhajanam. Through this Sloka Shri Nadadur Ammal directed Venkatanatha (Swami Desika) to establish Vedanta on a firm basis and to refute the doctrines of opponents. Swami Desika worked towards these objectives. Swami himself has put his accomplishments in black and white in the following Sloka: " nirvishtam yatisArvaboumavacasAm Avruttibiryavvanam nitdOtEtarapAratantranirayA:kadAs sukam vAsarA:! ankIkrutya sadAm prasaddim asadAm karvOpi nirvApita: shEshAyushyapi shEshidampati dayA dIshAm utIshAmahE !! " Swami says that he has fulfilled the orders of mahAns and has refuted the doctrines of opponents. So, the objective of his avatAram has been accomplished. Swami adds that he would hence forth wait for the instructions of the Divya dampati's. Our Azhagiyasingar has mentioned about Swami Desika's 'krutI' in his dEsikarum avar suktigalum thus: " Swami Desika had highest regard to Shri bAshyakAra's SrI sooktI's. Swami used to repeat it again and again. Swami was happy that he has not worked for anybody. In fact Shri Azhyagiyasingar said that Working for other's is naragam and Swami Desika threw it away. Swami was very happy to live on unchavrutti. Swami Desika lived up to the expectations of Shri Nadadur ammal. Even in the Rahasya traya sAram, Swami Desika says that he has accomplished all the works assigned to him by elders and now he wanted only Perumal's tiruvadi! " Swami Desika accomplished all what he wanted to!- 'krutI' Can we ever see a 'krutI' better than this? Krutam also means help. So, a person who helps is also a krutI. Swami Desika systemetised the saranAgathy sastra and is a 'krutI'. Swami said that who can ever measure the infinite help of our ArulAla perumAn -- " ArulAlar perumAn seyyum andamilla vudavi yellam alappAr aarE! " Are we not in the same position now? Who can ever conclude the amount of help rendered by Swami Desika!!! " Kavi Taarkika Simhaaya Kalyaana guna SaalinE! SrimatE VenkateshAya VedAnta Gurave nama !! " ....To be continued! dEsikan tiruvaDigaLE SaraNam Praveena nAmni Ramanuja dasi 3rd Aug 1999
