The gOshti was very emotional and touching when we realised this

is the very perumaL ONLY and ONLY becuase of whom all the gOshti

itslef is possible.

 

day 1 morning. thiru masishai pasurams

day 1 eveing. Thiruchitra koodam pasurams of Sri kulasEkara AzhwAr

day 2 morning. amalan adi piran

day 2 evening. ArA amuthE pathigam

day 3 morning. thiruchantha viruttham last ten pasurams.

day 3 evening. para matha bangam from Swami dEsika prabhandam

day 4 morning. naanmugan thiru anthAthi

 

In thiru kudanthai there is a special protocol prevalent.

Anything provided to perumAl is first provided to thiru mazhisai

and then only Amudhan gets HIS chance. Besides gOshti starts and

ends with thiru mazhisai's pasurams in every celebrations and

they are given the first importance prior to even thiru vAy mozhi.

This is thiru mazhisai's saranAgathi kshEthram. No wonder it is

this way. On one of the day Dr PadmA subramaniyam presented a

nAttiya samarpanam to the yAhAgnis for periyAzhwAr pAsuram.

 

 

The celebrations went off so well all the days. Sri mAlolan had

come to grace the occasion and stayed on the very first house

adjacent to the temple. Due to some unexpected circumstances

smArthAs veda pArAyana group could not chant vedhams inside the

yAga salai with Sri vaishnavaLs due some who have certain

protocol rights in the temple over others. However Sri

Azhagiya singar with HIS merciful and most magnanimous heart

welcomed them into our Sri sannithi and they did chAthur vEdha

pAryAnam to Sri mAlolan. Srimadh Azhagiya Singar really enjoyed

it and praised it. Sri Nrusimha priya worte this such that " when

a best man (mAppilai thOzhan, Sri mAlolan) went to see the

wedding of HIS friend (Sri Amudhan) and it so happened that the

best man also got married accidentally.. chAthur vEdha pArAyanam

was rendered to Sri mAlolan with parama bhakthi and sraddhai

by them as well every day. This was extremely a happy occasion

for all Sri sannithi shishyALs who gathered from all over the

country.

Apparently, there is a reason for this.

Thirumazisai Azhavar's trip down to

Kumbakonam is well known. When the

Azhvar reached Amudhan temple the

thirumanjanam was just starting.

Azhvar was tired and hungry after

a long journey. So, Azhvar thought

to himself, " Oh! Amudha!!, look at

yourself, I am tired and hungry, and

you are just staring to bathe; when

will you finish your thirumanjanam,

when will the arAdhanam be over,

and when will you feed me? " Azhavar

was taking liberties just as a friend

would. AmudhAzhvan, immediately

directed the Archaka to stop the

thirumanjanam and distribute prasadham

to Thirumazhisai pirAn.

 

In commemoration of this event, in

Sarnagapani temple, naivEdhyam is first

given to Mazhisai Vandha jOsthi. Like

Vadapathrasayee who preferred the garland

worn by Andal, Amudhan likes the

uchchishtam of MazhisaipirAn.

 

Later, the Moolavar obeyed the command

of this Azhvar and started getting up

from His bed. Even today this can be

seen in this temple with the Moolavar

not in a complete " sayana thirukkOlam "

but the upper thirumEni slightly raised.

Even today the amuthiseythal is

first to Sri thiru mazhisai AzhwAr first

and then only to the Lord Sri Amuthan.
